Publication number: 20060210395Abstract: The present invention provides a nonlinearly stacked low noise turbofan stator vane. The stator is in an axial fan or compressor turbomachinery stage that is comprised of a collection of vanes whose highly three-dimensional shape is selected to reduce rotor-stator and rotor-strut interaction noise while maintaining the aerodynamic and mechanical performance of the vane. The nonlinearly stacked low noise turbofan stator vane reduces noise associated with the fan stage of turbomachinery to improve environmental compatibility. The stator vane has a characteristic curve that is characterized by a nonlinear sweep and a nonlinear lean.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2005Publication date: September 21, 2006Inventors: William Schuster, Karen Kontos, Donald Weir, Nick Nolcheff, John Gunaraj

Publication number: 20050183476Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention have a lock bolt extendible and retractable by movement of a power transmission assembly driven by an actuator and having a cam thereon which cams against the lock bolt to retract the lock bolt and unlock the steering column. In some embodiments, the cam has a curved surface with varying distance from the axis of rotation of the cam or pivot to improved lock bolt motion. The cam can have a gradual ramp surface to extract a lock bolt even in binding conditions of the lock bolt. In some embodiments, one or more sensors directly or indirectly connected to the actuator can be used to trigger deactivation of the actuator when the lock bolt has been or can be sufficiently moved to its locked and unlocked positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 21, 2004Publication date: August 25, 2005Inventors: Michael Feucht, David Janssen, William Schuster

Publication number: 20050012593Abstract: In some embodiments of the present invention, a modular vehicle ignition system is disclosed that is capable of housing various components, such as a lock cylinder, a remote keyless entry (RKE) transceiver, a radio frequency identification (RFID) transceiver, an operator identification system, a steering column lock, an ignition switch, and the like. In some embodiments, one or more of these components is coupled to a circuit board that is coupled to the housing. Furthermore, one or more of these components can be networked to other electronic and electromagnetic systems of the vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2004Publication date: January 20, 2005Inventors: Donald Harrod, Steven Dimig, Alan Ritz, William Schuster, Erik Esser

Patent number: 5469346Abstract: A device which can be set to start a light flashing unattended at a predetermined time. The device includes a light and a battery, together with a small electronic clock. The clock has a display for displaying a time, a memory for holding a settable alarm time, and alarm output terminals for outputting a signal at a pre-established time stored in the memory. An electronic control circuit receives the signal from the clock at the pre-established time, and causes the light to begin flashing at that time. In the embodiment shown here, the control circuit flashes the light for a predetermined time, and then turns the light off. In this embodiment the device includes a casing, and a switch mounted in the casing and electrically connected between the battery and the light. By this switch, the light can be turned on and off in a manner generally conventional for a flashlight.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 1993Date of Patent: November 21, 1995Assignee: Paul R.
