  • Publication number: 20070297403
Abstract: The present disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for a setting up a packet data connection in a wireless network. In one example, a method may include receiving a packet data channel request and an invitation message at a first node over an air interface from a mobile device. The invitation message may be directed to a communication device. The invitation message may be inserted into a setup message used to set up the packet data channel and the setup message may be sent to a second node. The invitation message may be extracted from the setup message by the second node and forwarded to a third node. The setup message may be processed to establish the packet data channel.

  • Publication number: 20070230409
Abstract: A system for providing architecture and signaling, by which a mobile communications device—active within a WLAN environment—may be effectively and efficiently interfaced with a CDMA2000 network to provide cooperative and concurrent VoIP and over-the-air (OTA) communications, is disclosed. A wireless communications system comprises a mobile station, operating in a wireless LAN environment. The mobile station access the Internet through a wireless LAN access point. The area is also provided service by a CDMA2000-based over-the-air network. A provisioning server, within the CDMA2000-based network, is accessible via the Internet. A mobile switching center is also within the CDMA2000-based network. An interface construct is communicatively coupled to the mobile switching center and to the wireless LAN, and is adapted to facilitate call traffic between the CDMA2000 network and the mobile station over the wireless LAN.

  • Publication number: 20070223452
Abstract: A session information retrieval system is disclosed that efficiently transfers mobile station session information among certain members of a radio access network. As a mobile station within the network—which is dormant in a first packet data zone of the network moves to a second packet data zone, a PCF for the second packet zone contacts the PCF for the first packet data zone to retrieve session information for the MS. Having retrieved the MS's already-established session information, the second PCF obviates the need to re-establish or re-negotiate session information for the MS. Having forwarded the MS's session information to the second PCF, the first PCF may discard the now unneeded session information that would have otherwise been maintained indefinitely—freeing up valuable system resources.

  • Publication number: 20050101325
Abstract: A first base station for use in a wireless network. The first base station receives a first control message from a second base station indicating that a first mobile station communicating with the second base station is about to be handed off to the first base station. The first base station, in response to the receipt of the first control message, generates a complete handoff control message and transmits the complete handoff control message to the second base station. The complete handoff control message is suitable for transmission by the second base station to the first mobile station to thereby cause the first mobile station to be handed off to the first base station. The complete handoff control message comprises a variable length Universal Handoff Direction message according to a CDMA2000 protocol.
