Patent number: 10990850Abstract: Techniques for machine learning (ML) model knowledge distillation and automatic retraining are described. A model adaptation controller obtains samples generated by an edge device and inference values generated based on the samples by a deployed ML model of the edge device. The model adaptation controller runs inference on the samples using a different ML model to generate inferences that can be used to determine whether the performance of the deployed ML model is lacking. If so, the model adaptation controller can retrain the deployed ML model using samples with ground truth values generated by the different ML model, resulting in a light-weight retrained model that can be provisioned to the edge device. This retraining process may be performed iteratively to automatically improve and adapt the ML model running at the edge device.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2018Date of Patent: April 27, 2021Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Gang Chen, William Shannon Fu, Long Gao

Publication number: 20190384543Abstract: A method for reducing a time-to-first-print in an imaging device that includes tracking a set of sleep times between print jobs in an imaging device and determining whether a predetermined number of sleep times in the set of sleep times is reached; and upon a positive determination, identifying a first and a second most recent sleep times stored among the set of sleep times tracked; determining whether each of the first sleep time and the second sleep time is less than a predetermined threshold; and upon a positive determination, determining a value based on an average of the first sleep time and the second sleep time. The value is used as a period of time that the imaging device is powered at a snooze mode prior to transitioning to a sleep mode, and when a print job is received in the imaging device while in the snooze mode, the time-to-first-print from the snooze mode is faster than the time-to-first print when the print job is received while in the sleep mode.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 15, 2018Publication date: December 19, 2019Inventors: David J. Patent number: 9906601Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for supporting namespaces in a multitenant application server environment. The application server environment can include a domain with a plurality of partitions. A global namespace or JNDI tree bound to domain-level resources can maintain a collection of partition root nodes, with each partition root node being the root node of a partition JNDI tree. Each node in a partition JNDI tree is made partition-aware by including properties specific to a particular partition. An initial context for a partition can be created for use in dispatching resource lookup requests to the partition, and can be reused by other applications in accessing resources in the partition.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 2015Date of Patent: February 27, 2018Assignee: ORACLE INTERNATIONAL CORPORATIONInventors: Leimeng Zhang, Guojun Shan, William Shannon, Rajiv Mordani, Lawrence Feigen, Yun Lin, Chuntao Chen

Patent number: 7089317Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for providing a standard, generic contract between an application server and a message provider which allows the message provider to deliver messages to message endpoints (each of which is associated with a corresponding message application) residing in the application server is disclosed. By generic, it is meant that the contract is independent of the specific messaging style, messaging semantics and messaging infrastructure used to deliver messages. In this way, the contract also serves as the standard message provider pluggability contract that allows any message provider to be plugged into any application server via an associated resource adapter.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2002Date of Patent: August 8, 2006Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventors: Thulasiraman Jeyaraman, Mark William Hapner, William A. Publication number: 20050096926Abstract: A system and method for automating the transfer of real estate. A centralized server or servers are connected to a distributed computer network that is connected between a plurality of client computers. A real estate record is created on the centralized server and information is received on the server from a plurality of sources including real estate databases, computer input devices, facsimile equipment, and electronic mail systems. The centralized server is integrated with a multiple listing service wherein information can be automatically exchanged therebetween. Fax or email communications may include documents for storage on the server. The fax or email sender enters a record identifier wherein the server recognizes the record identifier and determines whether it matches an existing real estate record. If so, the server converts the document to digital form if necessary and saves it to the matching real estate record.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 31, 2003Publication date: May 5, 2005Inventors: Steven Eaton, William Shannon, Karen Karam, David DeRees
