  • Patent number: 6016860
Abstract: This invention relates to improved apparatus for forming paper board structures in which two corrugated mediums are bonded together at their flute tips. The apparatus comprises: two register rolls for ensuring that the mediums are brought into precise flute tip to flute tip alignment for bonding; dependent electric motors to drive the register rolls in which one roll is driven by a reference motor and the second register roll is driven by a follower motor; location sensing devices associated with each register roll to measure a value related to the location of a position on the periphery of each register roll; control means which compares the measured values for each register roll and if necessary adjusts the voltage or current of the follower motor to maintain alignment of the flute tips of the two mediums.

  • Patent number: 5787248
Abstract: Multiplexer (100) includes a plurality of resident network management protocol handlers (116, 118 and 120). The multiplexer user can select which one of the protocols to use from among the resident protocols to use for framing network management messages received or transmitted via network management port (134). This selection can be made without requiring new hardware or software modules to be installed, and without significant run-time overhead to select among several supported protocols. Upon receiving a request to update the currently used protocol handler (116, 118 and 120) a handler index (124) which is used to select a pointer to all of the resident protocols, causes the newly selected to be activated, and any new network protocol messages are transmitted and received using the standards for the new protocol.

  • Patent number: 5750640
Abstract: The invention provides reaction products of:(A) an acylating reagent, with(D) a polyalkenyl derivative of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic reagent (C), and(E) a polyamine containing at least two --NH.sub.2 and/or --NH groups, or with(F) the pre-formed product of reagents (D) and (E), wherein the acylating reagent (A) is the reaction product of(B) a C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 polyene or oligomer prepared therefrom, and(C) an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic reagent; lubricating oil compositions, fuel compositions and additive concentrates containing them; and use of the reaction products as dispersant additives.

  • Patent number: 5686311
Abstract: A method for diagnosing the likelihood of autism in patients is provided which comprises first obtaining from the patient a sample of body fluid such as urine and analyzing the sample to determine the quantity therein of at least one marker compound selected from the group consisting of citramalic acid, 5-hydroxy-methyl-2-furoic acid, 3-oxo-glutaric acid, furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid, tartaric acid, furancarbonylglycine, arabinose, dihydroxyphenylpropionic acid, carboxycitric acid and phenylcarboxylic acid; if the quantities of one or more of the compounds are abnormally high, as compared with the urine of non-autistic individuals, an ultimate diagnosis of autism is likely. The invention also pertains to a method of treating autistic patients by administration of antifungal drugs, in order to ameliorate the clinical symptoms of autism.

  • Patent number: 5674349
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved method and apparatus for producing paper board structures wherein two corrugated mediums are bonded together at their flute tips. End gears (16a, 16b, 15a, 15b) are provided, at least, on the ends of the corrugating rolls (4,6), which are non-meshing with each other and which assist in aligning the corrugated mediums in tip to tip arrangement and provide precise tip to tip bonding of the mediums. The end gears may be abutting or non abutting and may be provided on both ends of the corrugating rolls, which assist in aligning the mediums to obtain precise tip to tip bonding.
