  • Patent number: 7954083
Abstract: A method for modeling requirements of a product includes defining an abstract use case for each feature of said product, hierarchically decomposing each abstract use case until concrete use cases are specified for each feature, depicting every actor who would use the product as communicating with a concrete use case through a boundary, and programmatically extracting requirements from the use case diagram. Programmatically extracting requirements further includes converting use case diagrams into directed acyclic graphs, where each use case corresponds to a node of a graph and each relationship between a pair of use cases is represented by a directed edge between the corresponding pair of nodes in the graph where a directed edge points from a parent node to a child node, converting the directed acyclic graph into a tree, and searching the tree to extract the requirements.

  • Publication number: 20060262299
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for calibrating an optical detector. In a preferred embodiment, the present invention provides a reference that includes a body and a surface of the body. At least a portion of the surface has a reflectance that can vary. The reference is adapted to be deployed with a cloud of optical sensors and has a terminal velocity that is about the same as the terminal velocity of the sensors. Further, the variation of the reflectance can be caused by a rotation of the reference (caused by an aerodynamic member) or by a controller that controls an electo optic material of the surface. In a preferred embodiment, the sensors are porous silicon optical sensors and the reference includes a retroreflector. The invention also provides a method of referencing an optical signal. The method includes deploying a reference with a cloud of sensors and detecting a variation in its reflectance.

  • Publication number: 20060117227
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program for handling a fabric failure. A module intercepts a signal indicating a failure of a path in a fabric providing a connection to a shared device. The module generates an interrupt to a device driver in an operating system providing an interface to the shared device that is inaccessible due to the path failure. The device driver requests information from the module on a status of a plurality of devices that are not accessible due to the path failure and receives information indicating the inaccessible device. The device driver reconfigures to discontinue use of the inaccessible device.
