  • Publication number: 20090095667
Abstract: Cleaning operations involving steam and flushing with water produce runoff that flows into drains installed in factory floors. Allowing bulky materials to flow into and plugging factory drains creates floor flooding conditions, production line shutdown and loss of time and money. These conditions can occur when strainer baskets are removed from drains. A drain facilitated with a drain closer prevents flow of bulky materials into drains and subsequent plugging. The drain closer is activated with a modified strainer basket such that removal of the basket closes the drain preventing inflow of bulky materials.

  • Publication number: 20080005835
Abstract: A drain provides significant advantages over the prior art. A drain fabricated without seams can be easily cleaned and does not provide sites for bacterial growth. The cone and outlet sections of the drain are formed using a spinning process to eliminate the need for welds. The cone section includes a vertical interface lip, such that the outside of the cone section is welded to the rim, eliminating a weld on the interior of the cone. The weld between the rim and the cone section can be polished to eliminate imperfections on the top of the drain. The contour of the cone section also facilitates drainage, and hence reduces bacterial growth, by maintaining a downward slope on a smooth surface. For an embodiment with a membrane flange, dual walls are used such that the membrane flange can be welded to the outer wall of the drain, preventing the welding process from damaging the smoothness of the interior drain wall.

  • Patent number: 5820776
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel fire extinguishing composition comprising a unique salt mixture and a method of using the novel composition combination with water to extinguish Class B and Class C fires. The fire extinguishing composition comprises an unique mixture of at least two salts, I and II: wherein I is selected from the group consisting of a bicarbonate or carbonate salt of sodium or potassium and II is selected from the group consisting of a chloride, sulfate, or tartrate salt of sodium or potassium and wherein the mixture exhibits a single minimum melting point. It has been found that the composition when applied as a combination with water provides excellent results in extinguishing class B fires, especially those involving cooking appliances using a large quantity of oil or fat, such as deep fryers.
