  • Publication number: 20070268368
Abstract: A system and method for continuous recording of an integrated data stream from audio, video, and sensor devices from a digital video recording system installed within a mass transit vehicle. The digital video recording system contains a covert camera and timers that initialize data recording after the ignition is turned off within a vehicle, when acts of vandalism destroy or obscure the data stream from visibly mounted cameras, or when motion is detected within the vehicle where there should be none. The invention includes timers that may be set for known periods of time, or set to progressively extend recording as needed.

  • Publication number: 20070035632
Abstract: The Improved Mobile Digital Video Recorder (IMDVR) system is a ruggedized, multiple camera video and audio recording system that is installed within a public transit vehicle to record, store, and manage an integrated data stream of data captured within and exterior to the transit vehicle. The system is focused on multiple person vehicles and the capture of an integrated data stream for use in transit security, liability, and evidentiary processes.

  • Publication number: 20060274166
Abstract: A wireless microphone attached to a ruggedized, mobile digital video recording system may be used to record audio of events when activated. To conserve file space in a storage device, a sensor may be used to activate the microphone for audio recording, and to cause video recording to begin at the same moment through a pairing mechanism between the wireless microphone and the mobile digital video recording system. This sensor activation provides a complete audio/visual record of the event, or series of events, that caused the sensor to trigger. The microphone may also be manually triggered, thus providing a user with a means to capture audio/visual records in an ad hoc fashion. All recorded events are saved to files in a high-capacity storage device for later retrieval and review.

  • Publication number: 20060270465
Abstract: A wireless microphone system for use with a mobile digital recording system is disclosed. The wireless microphone system is comprised of a wireless microphone with a built-in transceiver and an in-vehicle transceiver that is connected to a mobile digital recording system. The wireless microphone can transmit audio information in real-time to the in-vehicle transceiver when the wireless microphone is in radio range of the in-vehicle transceiver. The wireless microphone can operate out of radio range of the in-vehicle transceiver by saving recorded audio data to a memory. The saved audio information can be downloaded to the in-vehicle transceiver when the wireless microphone is back in radio range of the in-vehicle transceiver, and the system is enabled to synchronize the saved audio information with other information collected by the mobile digital recording system during the time that the wireless microphone was out of range of the in-vehicle transceiver.

  • Publication number: 20060012683
Abstract: A digital video information management system for monitoring and managing a system of digital collection devices is disclosed. Information files are automatically transferred from such collection devices to the information management system. Digitally captured information is classified to assign information attributes which are used to categorize and establish management, storage, and retention characteristics. A unique file, filename, and attributes are created for each recorded event, allowing the information management system to manage each event efficiently. The information management system automates a process to transfer digital information to other users or network-connected devices. Transfer of digital information can be done on a scheduled basis, or in response to an information request, or upon instruction by an end user.

  • Publication number: 20050185936
Abstract: A digital recording device that is optimized for field use in motor vehicles, and methods for capturing, storing, and retaining digital information recorded by such digital recording device, are disclosed. The digital recording device comprises a non-removable hard disk drive for data storage, eliminating the need to use removable media cartridges, and a small control panel, and is packaged in a ruggedized, compact form factor.
