  • Patent number: 4508987
Abstract: In a hermetic compressor there is provided a resilient retainer member adapted to removably secure a terminal receptacle block assembly and a thermal overload protector relative to the compressor casing. The receptacle block assembly is adapted to engage conductor pins of an electrical terminal secured to the upper wall of the casing while the overload protector is arranged on a substantially flat portion of the upper wall of the casing. The retainer member is arcuately shaped with its downwardly diverging end portions adapted to engage the receptacle block and thermal protector respectively. A downward force on the apex of the retainer member forces its end portions to securely hold the receptacle block in electrical contact with the conductor pins and thermal protector in intimate contact with the upper wall of the compressor casing.

  • Patent number: 4474030
Abstract: A reversible refrigerant heat pump system wherein a pair of volumes are provided, each being adapted to function alternatively as an oil separator when in the flow path of high pressure discharge refrigerant gas from the compressor and as an accumulator when in the flow path of low pressure suction refrigerant gas returning to the compressor.

  • Patent number: 4445344
Abstract: A reversible, hermetically-sealed rotary compressor driven by a reversible electric motor for use in a refrigeration system comprising a compressor cylinder, a rotor eccentrically rotatable in the cylinder and a vane dividing the cylinder into interchangeable high and low pressure sides. A switch-over member automatically directs refrigerant into one or the other fluid passageways leading to the refrigeration system as an incident of motor rotation.

  • Patent number: 4373352
Abstract: A modulating system for a rotary hermetic compressor is provided with a valve operable by a force varying with the difference in pressure between the suction and discharge pressure for allowing a portion of the refrigerant gas being compressed to travel from the compression side of the roller to the suction side of the roller when the design peak load of the compressor is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 4373882
Abstract: A rotary compressor having a discharge check valve and a retainer assembly in which the valve is a reed type valve mounted on the retainer and the retainer having spaced locating projections for positioning the assembly in a valve chamber. The retainer has a projection dimensioned to engage between the retainer main body portion and one wall of the valve chamber to create a continuous radius free from flat spots for the valve to engage in its open position.

  • Patent number: 4331002
Abstract: The invention relates to increasing the pumping efficiency of a rotary compressor and, more particularly, to an arrangement for supplying uncondensed gaseous refrigerant from the inlet of the evaporator to the compression chamber when the pressure in the compression chamber is less than evaporator inlet pressure.

  • Patent number: 4240774
Abstract: A hermetic compressor unit comprising a hermetic casing containing a compressor including a cylinder block having an arcuate surface engaging the inner surface of the casing and a suction tube assembly for connecting the compressor to a refrigeration system. The suction tube assembly comprises a connector including an end portion extending into an opening in the casing in alignment with a suction passage in the cylinder block. A tubular sleeve member chosen from the group of metals having a higher ductility than steel has a first portion arranged in the suction passage and a second compressible portion arranged in the connector. A steel tubular fitting includes a first portion press fit into the first portion of the sleeve member and a second portion dimensioned to engage and collapse the compressible second portion of the steel fitting to simultaneously effect a fluid tight seal in the suction passage and connector thereby sealing the compressor casing and suction tube assembly to the compressor.
