  • Publication number: 20240151345
Abstract: A thermal, flame protective sleeve for protecting a member therein and method of construction thereof. The sleeve includes a tubular member having a circumferentially continuous wall with a straight cylindrical inner surface bounding an inner cavity extending along a central longitudinal axis between open opposite ends. At least one end cap is fixed to at least one of the opposite ends. The at least one end cap has at least one resilient tine extending radially inwardly from an outer surface of the end cap sufficiently for engagement with an elongate member extending into the inner cavity of the tubular member. The at least one end cap is silicone.

  • Publication number: 20080169038
Abstract: A wrappable heat shield for an exhaust pipe and methods of construction and installation thereor includes an outer layer of metal having opposite inner and outer faces extending between opposite sides. An inner layer of non-woven insulation is attached to the the outer layer by a crimped portion extending along one of the opposite sides of the outer layer. The inner layer has a width sufficient to extend completely about a circumference of the exhaust pipe and is arranged in continuous contact with the exhaust pipe about its circumference while the outer layer remains spaced therefrom.

  • Patent number: 7216622
Abstract: A heat shield and heat shield assembly for protecting components exposed to heat are disclosed. The heat shield includes a shroud shaped to cover the component, the shroud having heat reflective layers and a heat insulating layer. The shroud is attached to a clip for removable attachment to the component. A flexible, resilient tab extends from the shroud, the tab providing a means for attaching the heat shield to a wiring harness to form an assembly connectable to the component. The tab is bendable for relative movement of the shroud from a position spaced from the component to a position in which the shroud covers the component upon connection of the wiring harness to the component.

  • Patent number: 7171940
Abstract: A heat shield adapted to protect an engine mount is disclosed. The heat shield has a substrate positionable substantially surrounding the engine mount. The substrate has a heat reflecting surface facing outwardly away from the engine mount to block radiant heat transfer to the mount. An attachment member is attached to the substrate. The attachment member is positionable between the engine and the engine mount to fix the substrate in position. The invention further concerns a method including providing a heat shield formed of a flexible substrate, forming the substrate so as to surround the engine mount with the heat reflecting surface facing outwardly from the engine mount and attaching the substrate to the engine mount.
