  • Patent number: 11794377
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for making prepregs are disclosed. A method may include depositing a resin material onto a surface of a fiber bed and forming a number of discrete resin regions thereon. A distance between the resin regions may be measured to provide desired exposed portions of the surface to facilitate permeation of air through the exposed portions of the surface in a direction perpendicular to a plane of the fiber bed during a curing process of the prepreg.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 4, 2022
Date of Patent: October 24, 2023
    Assignee: University of Southern California
Inventors: Steven Nutt, Lessa Grunenfelder, Timotei Centea, Mark Anders, William Thomas Edwards, Sarah Grace Katz Schechter

  • Patent number: 6141357
Abstract: A user headset is provided that is operable to contain an audio device (50) and a receiver (52). The receiver (52) is operable to receive both audio information on multiple channels and also data. The data is received in the form of pulse width modulated sync signals. The sync signals are operable to provide a synchronization signal for 3-D liquid crystal lenses (60). The data is encoded within the sync signal through pulse width modulation. The width of the pulse defines various commands. These various commands define the channel over which the audio is to be transmitted. These channels can either be user-defined or they can be a function of the transmitter. The transmitter includes an audio generator (42) for generating audio signals on multiple channels and also a data generator (40). These are modulated onto a broad band optical signal and transmitted via an IR data link.

  • Patent number: 6057811
Abstract: A shutter control mechanism for 3-D glasses includes a control circuit (28) associated with the glasses, the glasses having 3-D lenses (20) and (22). The control circuitry (28) receives commands from a control transmitter (16) in the form of synchronization pulses and command signals. The command signals are operable to vary the operating parameters of the lenses (20) and (22). Specifically, the duty cycle of the left lens (22) and the right lens (20) are varied such that they can either be at a fifty percent duty cycle, greater than a fifty percent duty cycle or less than a fifty percent duty cycle, wherein the amount of time that each of the lenses is on can be controlled for a given frame length. The command signals are also operable to provide demultiplexing of a plurality of multiplexed program channels. Specifically, the duty cycle of each shutter control frame is subdivided into transmissive left and right intervals corresponding to each program channel.

  • Patent number: 5750108
Abstract: A method for hair treatment is disclosed wherein a first treatment solution comprising tea tree oil is periodically applied to the scalp for at least 10 days. Then, a second treatment solution comprising chlorine dioxide is periodically applied to the scalp, immediately followed by application of an acidic solution having an acidity effective to release the oxygen in the chlorine dioxide solution, for at least 1 month. Finally, a third treatment solution comprising saw palmetto berry extract is periodically applied to the scalp for at least 1 month. Also disclosed is a hair treatment kit comprising a first treatment solution comprising tea tree oil, a second treatment solution comprising chlorine dioxide, an acidic solution having a pH effective to release the oxygen from said chlorine dioxide in said second treatment solution, and a third treatment solution comprising saw palmetto berry extract.
