Patent number: 8317365Abstract: Disclosed is a cover for a compact fluorescent light employing a two piece clamshell shape assimilating a conventional incandescent light bulb. The cover is formed from two clamshells hingedly secured along a top end having inter-engaging means for securing one clamshell to a second clamshell tightly securing the cover to the base of a compact fluorescent light. In the preferred embodiment, the housing is made of material to reduce or eliminate ultraviolet light produced from a gas discharge lamp and provide a cover that can be decorative through the emulation of a conventional incandescent light bulb or decorated with colors and materials wherein the fluorescent light provides back lighting or where images are placed upon the housing so as to allow the back lighting to operate as a projection surface placing images on a wall separate from the light bulb.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2010Date of Patent: November 27, 2012Inventors: Lisa Tracy, William Tracy

Publication number: 20090242327Abstract: A safety device is shown for use with a ladder which is leaned against the upper part of a structural wall of a building that is equipped with a rain gutter under the eaves. The device is closely received within the interior of the existing rain gutter and secured to the fascia board of the wall. The device has exposed, spaced ears which allow the ladder to be docked safely and an elastic tie-down cord to further secure the ladder in position. Otherwise, the device is not readily apparent to an observer and provides increased ladder safety while also serving to protect the gutter against deformation when the ladder is put in place.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2008Publication date: October 1, 2009Inventor: William Tracy

Publication number: 20070114156Abstract: A process for the selective hydrodesulfurization of olefinic naphtha streams containing a substantial amount of organically bound sulfur and olefins. The olefinic naphtha stream is selectively desulfurized in a first hydrodesulfurization reaction stage. This effluent stream is then contacted with a stripping agent in a H2S removal zone, such as steam or an amine solution, to remove H2S from the effluent stream, thereby reducing the H2S partial pressure of the process stream. The process stream is then subjected to a second desulfurization reaction stage followed by a mercaptan decomposition stage to reduce the content of mercaptan sulfur in the final product stream. In a second embodiment, the effluent stream from the first hydrodesulfurization reaction stage, after being subjected to the H2S removal zone, is fed directly to the mercaptan decomposition stage where total sulfur content and mercaptan sulfur content are reduced in the final product stream.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 23, 2005Publication date: May 24, 2007Inventors: John Greeley, Edward Ellis, Thomas Halbert, William Tracy, Jeffrey Dysard

Patent number: 6373383Abstract: Apparatus and method for receiving alarms from multiple network management servers and applying a plurality of policy-based filters to the alarms. The filters may be named and stored in a database, and application of the policy-based filters may be scheduled for different times. The same policy-based filters may be applied to one or more multiple network management applications. The invention allows greater control over which alarms get reported to network management applications and provides a means to ensure consistency of reported alarms across multiple network management applications.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2000Date of Patent: April 16, 2002Assignee: Aprisma Management Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Russell Arrowsmith, William Tracy

Publication number: 20020016736Abstract: The invention includes a method, apparatus, and computer program product for determining when to insert supplemental content between requested content, such as when to insert advertisements between requested Web-pages. In a preferred embodiment, a first request is intercepted from a user for first content. Subsequently, a second request is captured from the user for second content. It is then determined that the second request is independent of the first content. Finally, the insertion of supplemental content is facilitated, between the first content and the second content.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2001Publication date: February 7, 2002Inventors: George Dewey Cannon, Kimble C. Cannon, William Tracy

Patent number: 6102290Abstract: A self-check apparatus is provided for processing a sales transaction of an article having an attached surveillance tag, each attached surveillance tag bearing a coded indicia such as a bar code. The self-checkout apparatus stores an indication of the articles which have been selected for purchase. When the surveillance tag is presented to the apparatus for deactivation, the bar code on the tag is scanned, and a check is made to verify that the surveillance tag is attached to an article which has been selected for purchase, and provided such verification is made, the surveillance tag is deactivated.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1998Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Symbol Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jerome Swartz, William Tracy

Patent number: 6064304Abstract: Apparatus and method for receiving alarms from multiple network management servers and applying a plurality of policy-based filters to the alarms. The filters may be named and stored in a database, and application of the policy-based filters may be scheduled for different times. The same policy-based filters may be applied to one or more multiple network management applications. The invention allows greater control over which alarms get reported to network management applications and provides a means to ensure consistency of reported alarms across multiple network management applications.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1999Date of Patent: May 16, 2000Assignee: Cabletron Systems, Inc.Inventors: Russell Arrowsmith, William Tracy

Patent number: 5979758Abstract: A self-check apparatus is operative for processing a sales transaction of an article having an attached surveillance tag, each attached surveillance tag bearing a coded indicia such as a bar code. The self-checkout apparatus stores an indication of the articles which have been selected for purchase. When the surveillance tag is presented to the apparatus for deactivation, the bar code on the tag is scanned, and a check is made to verify that the surveillance tag is attached to an article which has been selected for purchase, and provided such verification is made, the surveillance tag is deactivated.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1998Date of Patent: November 9, 1999Assignee: Symbol Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Jerome Swartz, William Tracy

Patent number: 5975416Abstract: A data transfer system for an LCD price tagging arrangement includes an electro-optical scanner and one or more LCD price tags. Each LCD price tag is associated with a given product in a retail outlet and carries price or other information relating to that product. The LCD price tag includes an electro-optical detector for detecting a beam generated by the scanner. The scanner light beam generating source is modulated such that the beam carries product information. Accordingly the price or other product information on the LCD price tag can be quickly and efficiently updated.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1997Date of Patent: November 2, 1999Assignee: Symbol Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Joseph Chow, William Tracy
