  • Patent number: 11414531
Abstract: A method of manufacture of zinc monoglycerolate containing an incorporated modifier, and the product, the zinc monoglycerolate being in the form of agglomerates of crystallites, wherein the crystallite size based on the average coherence domain length is not more than 30 nm in the <100> direction, and not more than 60 nm in the <011> direction, as determined by the Scherrer equation via powder X-ray diffraction; and the aspect ratio computed by <100>/<011> coherent domain lengths is less than 0.65, preferably less than 0.56, in particular less than 0.44. Polymers containing this nucleating agent and methods for their production are also described. The zinc monoglycerolate is useful as a nucleating agent, and is very effective at low loading levels in polymers such as polypropylene.

  • Publication number: 20070205946
Abstract: A passive repeater includes: a connecting transmission circuit having first and second opposing ends and made of a flexible material for substantially conforming to a portion of a structure, the structure having first and second opposing sides; first and second antenna elements respectively coupled to the first and second opposing ends of the connecting transmission element; and first and second affixing elements respectively coupled to the first and second antenna elements for attaching the first and second antenna elements to the first and second opposing sides of the structure, wherein the first and second antenna elements are operable to transfer a signal from the first opposing side of the structure to the second opposing side of the structure via the connecting transmission circuit.

  • Publication number: 20070120562
Abstract: A material properties detection system (100). The system can include an antenna (120) that is tuned for operation within a frequency band over which the antenna transmits. The system also can include a transmitter (210) that generates electromagnetic energy across the frequency band and forwards the electromagnetic energy to the antenna. An impedance measurement circuit (215) can be provided. The impedance measurement circuit can measure an input impedance of the antenna over the frequency band and generate measured impedance data (225). The system can include a material characterization application (230) that processes the measured impedance data to generate a material characterization for a structure (110) to which the antenna is proximate. The material characterization can include a dielectric constant, a permittivity, a loss tangent and/or a permeability.

  • Publication number: 20040180213
Abstract: A coating composition that is capable of absorbing UV or UV and visible light is disclosed. The coating composition includes a carrier and a pigment dispersed in the carrier. The pigment includes nanoparticles of a UV light absorber such that the coating composition is capable of absorbing UV light up to 360 nm or nanoparticles of a UV and visible light absorber such that the coating composition is capable of absorbing UV and visible light up to 550 nm, and the absorber includes an inorganic material.

  • Publication number: 20030154822
Abstract: A process for leaching precious metals from material containing precious metals, such as oxidic and sulfidic gold-bearing ores, is disclosed. The process includes the steps of: (i) leaching the precious metal with a leach solution containing a thiosulfate-based lixiviant; (ii) treating the material by oxidising precious metal in the material into a form that is leachable in a subsequent leaching step; and thereafter as a separate step.
