  • Patent number: 9859833
Abstract: The fixed and variable speed induction motor and light controller has a dual isolated low voltage power supply including timing control that utilizes the zero crossing detector of a microcontroller (MCU) to chop the voltage. This permits quiet on the fly variable speed control. The MCU is connected to a pulse width modulation (PWM) module including two pairs of MOSFETs connected back-to-back to form two AC switches for motor control. A TRIAC phase control output controls the lighting. A reverse switch (which may be a part of the existing ceiling fan) or an on-board reverse relay is included. An RF receiver (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.) is configured for remote access to the controller.

  • Patent number: 8733980
Abstract: LED lighting modules have a highly thermally conductive polyhedral body having a plurality of exterior facets disposed around a mounting axis in a polygonal array facing outwardly away from the mounting axis and at a downward angle thereto. At least a majority of the facets carries at least one LED whose optical axis is angled acutely. The body carries a plurality of heat dissipating fins and serves as a heat sink to prevent overheating the LEDs in a transient and steady state operation. For retrofit applications, the module is mounted to a fixture via either a support or a bracket in a mounting position in which the elevation of the LEDs is determined according to the mounting and geometry of the replaced lamp.

  • Patent number: 8197098
Abstract: An LED recessed lighting apparatus has a housing mountable in a recess located behind a recess opening in an architectural structure. A non-vented trim is securable in place over the recess opening. A lens that allows light from the LED to pass through the trim has a fluid-tight internal cavity containing at least the light-emitting portion of the LED. At least a major portion of the heat generated by the LED is carried directly from the LED to the outside surface of said trim by way of a thermal path that includes a first heat sink located substantially immediately adjacent and intimately thermally conductively coupled to the LED, at least one second heatsink supported by and substantially directly thermally conductively coupled to, the inside of the trim, and at least one heat pipe thermally connecting the first heat sink to the second heat sink.

  • Patent number: 7179165
Abstract: The automatic vent damper has various embodiments of a wind actuated vent system, which automatically closes to preclude entry of wind blown water when a wind of predetermined velocity and direction acts upon the device. The damper may be installed as an off-ridge or ridge vent system, or in other operating environments and installations as desired. Various mechanisms are used to operate the device, with all including one or more springs, which hold a rigid door or flap, open in light wind conditions. However, when a wind of sufficient velocity blows toward the vent opening, the door or flap is closed due to aerodynamic forces thereon to preclude entry of wind blown water into the device. The door or flap automatically opens again due to the spring mechanism when the wind abates.
