  • Patent number: 5875897
Abstract: A packaging system (100) protects integrated circuit devices (106) from corrosion and mechanical damage. The devices are enclosed in a reel (102) having a hub (114) in which a cavity (116) is formed for retaining a molded desiccant (118). Apertures (120) between the cavity and the devices provide a vapor path for drawing moisture from the devices. A banding strip (108) for enclosing the devices within the reel has recessed areas (142) for housing pellets of desiccant (140). The reel is placed in an inflatable envelope (50) that includes view ports (56) for reading identifying information on the reel. A vacuum is drawn and the envelope is sealed. Air cells (52) in the inflatable envelope are inflated to cushion the devices from mechanical damage during shipment.

  • Patent number: 5796256
Abstract: An ESD sensor includes a plurality of layers of dielectric material positioned on a substrate, each having a different thickness, a first contact positioned adjacent each of the plurality of layers and a plurality of second contacts, one each positioned on each layer of the plurality of layers of dielectric material. Each different thickness of each individual layer of dielectric material is formed to provide a specific voltage at which an electrical short will occur between the first and second contacts when an ESD appears thereacross, so that the sensor provides an indication of a range of voltages.

  • Patent number: 5293996
Abstract: A sealed container (10) having a plurality of compartments. A first compartment (11) has a window (15) with a transparent panel. A humidity indicator device (16) is placed within the first compartment (11). A second compartment (12) is coupled to the first compartment (11) by a plurality of environmental exchange channels (17). At least one article (27), such as plastic encapsulated electronic components, is stored in the second compartment (12). A third compartment (13) is coupled to the second compartment (12) by a plurality of moisture transport channels (20). A desiccant (31) is placed in the third compartment (13). An internal environment of the sealed container (10) is monitored by viewing the humidity indicator device (16) through the window (15).

  • Patent number: 4979615
Abstract: A container for holding and transporting integrated circuit devices has an integral closing element. The integral closing element is cut out from one of the walls of the container and, in its rest position, remains substantially within the cutout. In an engaged position the integral closing element is pushed into a cavity of the container to block passage of the integrated circuit devices. In the engaged position the integral closing element can either be engaged in an opening made in an opposite side of the container or else can be lodged against a shoulder formed as part of the cavity.
