  • Publication number: 20160030486
Abstract: A method for preparing a treatment composition for treatment of osteoarthritis including un-cultured stromal vascular fraction cells from adipose tissue includes direct aspiration of material of a centrifugally-formed pellet phase including stromal vascular fraction cells from enzymatically-digested adipose tissue from an internal containment volume of a portable apparatus through an aspiration tube inserted into the pellet phase and into a fluid receptacle located outside of the internal containment volume. The treatment composition may be administered into or in the vicinity of a patient's joint to be treated for osteoarthritis.

  • Publication number: 20160008407
Abstract: A portable apparatus for collection and processing of human biological material containing adipose, such as extracted during a lipoplasty procedure, is useful for multi-step processing to prepare a concentrated product (e.g., stromal vascular fraction) or a fat graft composition. The apparatus has a container with an internal containment volume with a tissue retention volume and a filtrate volume separated by a filter and with a tapered portion to a collection volume for collecting concentrate product. The apparatus has fluid suction features including a suction port and a conduit providing fluid communication from the suction port to a location within the filtrate volume within a tapered portion of the internal containment volume, and optionally including a second suction port and a second conduit to a different location in the filtrate volume with the second conduit being configured to permit elevation adjustment within the filtrate volume.

  • Publication number: 20150368603
Abstract: A portable apparatus for collection and processing of human biological material, such as containing adipose extracted during a lipoplasty procedure, is useful for multi-step processing to prepare a concentrated product (e.g., stromal vascular fraction). The apparatus has a container with a containment volume with a tissue retention volume and a filtrate volume separated by a filter and with a tapered portion to a collection volume for collecting concentrate product. Inlet and suction ports provide access to the tissue retention volume and filtrate volume, respectively, and an extraction port provides versatile access for removal of target processed concentrate material. Advancing a hollow member such as a hypodermic needle through the extraction port and into the collection volume pierces the filter with the hollow member, providing a safety feature to prevent reuse of the apparatus. Access ports may be configured for access only from above the container.

  • Publication number: 20150359941
Abstract: Cancellous bone material may be processed in a portable container apparatus to prepare a stromal vascular fraction concentrate. Cancellous bone material may be washed to remove non-bone material, digested and digested material centrifuged, with all operations being performed on cancellous bone material while disposed in the portable container apparatus. Uncultured stromal vascular fraction cells separated from enzyme-digested cancellous bone material, and which contain osteoblasts and osteoclasts, may be removed from the portable container and used without culturing for a variety of medical applications. Medical treatment compositions may be prepared including recovered stromal vascular fraction cells and scaffold material.
