  • Publication number: 20150116155
Abstract: A communication system is provided. The communication system includes a directional antenna, an antenna steering system to steer the directional antenna, a memory, and one or more processors coupled to the memory, the directional antenna, and the antenna steering system. The one or more processors are configured to identify a communication target and state information associated with the communication target, instruct the antenna steering system to steer the at least one directional antenna towards the communication target based on the state information, instruct the antenna steering system to perform a received power scan within a scan area to determine a maximum received power direction associated with a signal transmitted from the communication target, and track the maximum received power direction.

  • Patent number: 7137465
Abstract: A crawler device for traversing in a confined environment, searching victims or inspecting defections, comprises an elongated flexible drive shaft extending along a central axis between a proximal end and a distal end, a motor operatively connected to the drive shaft for turning the drive shaft, and a plurality of segments disposed over the drive shaft. Any two adjacent segments are joined by an articulate joint. Each segment has a wheel assembly including drive wheels. At least two segments further include a gear assembly operatively connecting the wheel assembly to the drive shaft. Turning the drive shaft provides distributed traction force to the drive wheels of the at least two segments, and thereby drives the crawler device.

  • Patent number: 5048689
Abstract: A corner post construction fashioned from corrugated paperboard of single or more thickness. The corner post is made from a unitary blank of corrugated paperboard, the blank being generally rectangular and provided with three parallel slit scorelines running generally longitudinally of the blank. The scorelines define four generally rectangular panels, with the two innermost panels being of substantially the same width, but with the first and second outermost panels being of respectively greater and different widths. The slit scorelines are reverse cut, with the middle coming in from one surface of the unitary blank and the outer two slit scorelines coming in from the other surface. All three scorelines extend completely through the blank, except for the outermost or facing layers of the corrugated board. After slit scoring, the two outermost panels are glued to their respective next adjacent innermost panels to form the corner post in its storage or shipping condition.

  • Patent number: 4804138
Abstract: A corrugated paperboard carton of the top lifting type and a unitary blank for forming it. The upper end of each sidewall is provided with a pair of flange panels, the latter folded upon themselves and glued together to form double thickness flanges extending around the upper rim of the carton, each positioned parallel to its respective sidewall. The free side edge of one flange panel carries a tongue received between next adjacent flange panels, the tongue glued in place. A flexible reinforcing strip is carried by one series of the pair of flange panels, the flexible strip extending from the tongue and across the flange panels. The ends of the reinforcing strip overlap, being separated by the thickness of the tongue. The carton is particularly useful in conjunction with lift trucks, the blades of such a truck being inserted between the flange panels and any corresponding sidewall for lifting the loaded carton.

  • Patent number: 4693413
Abstract: A corner fold structure for a paperboard bin. Large bulk bins formed of layers of corrugated paperboard laminated together, often are manufactured with a pair of 180 degree folds, the folds permitting shipment of the bins in a collapsed condition prior to (individually) erecting them. After erection, at least one of the layers or plys of corrugated paperboard, at or adjacent the original 180 degree fold, now being a 90 degree fold, is often distorted, the fold sometimes bulging at the outer portion of the outermost ply or layer. According to this invention, an elongated zone of adhesive is provided between the outermost and the next layer of corrugated paperboard, in combination with score lines adjacent to and parallel with the line of adhesive. This line of adhesive is substantially parallel with the fold line or axis of the 180 degree fold. By such adhering together of the outermost and next layer or ply along this zone, the final 90 degree fold exhibits substantial uniformity therealong.
