  • Patent number: 6237514
Abstract: A seed metering device and method for disbursing agricultural seed and the like singularly and accurately comprising sprocket wheels, a seed conveyor device, a housing. A seed conveyor device interlocks with and surrounds sprocket wheels and rotates similarly to the sprocket wheels when rotated by a power source. Seeds are singulated and carried through a closed area formed by the walls of the housing by the seed conveyor device from a seed containment area to a seed release area. The metering device can accommodate a variety of seed types, sizes, and shapes, and will operate at a variety of speeds for different speed disbursement rates.

  • Patent number: 6216615
Abstract: The invention is an insecticide meter device for metered discharging of agricultural insecticides, and other chemicals. The insecticide metering device is designed to collect insecticide in a chamber and deposit that insecticide in the predetermined amounts in a drop tube which is deposited at an interval corresponding to the deposit of a seed. The chambers sit on a meter wheel which rotates within a housing. As the meter wheel rotates, the chamber picks up a defined amount of insecticide and carries that insecticide to a release point located at an outlet port. Gravity causes the insecticide to travel both from the insecticide hopper to the meter, and from the meter down the drop tube to the ground.

  • Patent number: 5542364
Abstract: The invention is a seed metering device for metered discharging of agricultural seeds and the like. The seed metering device is designed to collect seed in a singular or group fashion and deposit the same at predetermined and accurate intervals in a seed trench. The device includes a seed disk which contains a plurality of seed containment pockets. These pockets can be depressurized by imparting a partial vacuum. The seed disk sits between a manifold and a housing which define a seed collection area and a seed release area. Seed enters the seed collection area through a seed intake opening in the upper portion of the housing. This portion opens to a seed downfall region that widens into the seed collection area. As the disk rotates between the seed collection area and the seed release area, the seed pockets contained on the seed disk are pressurized thereby acquiring a seed and carrying or conveying the seed to the seed release point.

  • Patent number: 5012526
Abstract: Stroke adjustment method and apparatus for a tool such as a motor-driven wire brush utilized to remove "frost" from plated cotton picker spindles. The apparatus includes an arm pivotally connected at one end to a workstation and at the opposite end to a storke cylinder which moves the attached brush into contact with a workpiece. The stroke cylinder is attached to a sliding member which is indexed by a ratchet device in response to a signal indicative of current draw of the motor. As the average current draw drops below a preselected minimum level, the ratchet device is automatically indexed to advance the stroke cylinder and move the brush closer to the workpiece.
