Patent number: 11773718Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and system for formation fluid sampling. In at least some embodiments, the method includes pumping formation fluid from a public flow line of a downhole tool via a private flow line into a detachable sample chamber. The method also includes isolating the private flow line from the public flow line. The method also includes collecting measurements of the formation fluid in the private flow line. The method also includes associating the measurements with the detachable sample chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2014Date of Patent: October 3, 2023Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: Lizheng Zhang, Nestor Rodriguez, William Wade Samec, James Masino, Burkay Donderici

Patent number: 11761298Abstract: A location of a cut and an amount of force to be used in a pull operation for a plug & abandonment (P&A) operation can be determined. Measurements of at least one characteristic of fluids and solids disposed in an annulus defined between a casing and a wall of a wellbore can be received. A total fluid and solid friction force drag can be determined using hydrostatic force that is determined from the measurements. A mechanical friction force drag can be determined based on a weight of the casing. The mechanical friction force drag and the total fluid and solid friction force drag can be used to determine a friction factor. The friction factor can be used to determine a depth location at which to cut the casing and a pull force for pulling the casing from the wellbore in the P&A operation.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2021Date of Patent: September 19, 2023Assignee: Landmark Graphics CorporationInventors: Robello Samuel, William Wade Samec, Roddy Hebert, Robert H. Gales, Abbas Sami Eyuboglu

Patent number: 11434756Abstract: Systems, methods and devices for analyzing a sample of fluid extracted from a hydrocarbon-producing geological formation to detect a quantitative amount of hydrogen sulfide or disclosed. The systems methods and devices involve including a scavenger within a sample compartment to react with the hydrogen sulfide therein. The concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the sample may be derived as a function of the amount of scavenger remaining in the sample after reaction with hydrogen sulfide, an amount of byproduct of a reaction between the scavenger and the hydrogen sulfide, or an amount of hydrogen sulfide as measured following a secondary reaction that releases the hydrogen sulfide from the scavenger.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2020Date of Patent: September 6, 2022Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.Inventors: William Wade Samec, Cato Russell McDaniel
