Publication number: 20090119422Abstract: The illustrative embodiments described herein provide a computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for performing maintenance operations on a first set of peripheral devices. The method initiates communication to the first set of peripheral devices using a radio frequency transmission link. A set of diagnostic routines is initiated on the first set of peripheral devices. Data associated with the diagnostic routines from the first set of peripheral devices is received. A number of maintenance updates from a plurality of maintenance updates is selected for each peripheral device in the first set of peripheral devices using the data associated with the set of diagnostic routines. Maintenance operations are performed simultaneously, over the radio frequency transmission link, for each peripheral device in the first set of peripheral devices utilizing the number of maintenance updates.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2007Publication date: May 7, 2009Applicant: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Shreyas Abhay Kale, William White, JR., Robert Dean Yoder

Patent number: 6206838Abstract: There is provided an autoloader apparatus and skin testing system for rapidly loading a multi-headed applicator used for epicutaneous application of biological testing agents, while at the same time, effectively inhibiting cross contamination of testing agents during loading and removal of the applicator. The autoloader apparatus includes a plurality of reservoirs for storing testing agents therein. Each reservoir includes a collar defining an open top. The autoloader apparatus further includes a receptacle having first and second surfaces defining a plurality of apertures therethrough for at least partially receiving the collars of the reservoirs. The skin testing system includes an applicator and an autoloader. The applicator has a plurality of picks for sealably engaging the open tops of the reservoirs of the autoloader to enable each pick to be loaded with an effective amount of testing agent.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 2000Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Greer Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Joseph L. Doll, Ralph E. Reese, William White, Jr.

Patent number: 5944671Abstract: A skin test applicator has a applicator handle (21) and separately storable test elements (13). A complimentary snap-fit attachment structure (33, 43) is provided on the applicator handle and test elements to permit the applicator handle to operatively pick up and hold one or more test elements from a suitable sterile storage tray. The skin test applicator reduces storage requirements and the amount of refuse that must be discarded immediately following the administration of a skin test for the diagnosis of an allergic response or other diagnostic test.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 1998Date of Patent: August 31, 1999Assignee: Greer Laboratories, Inc.Inventor: William White, Jr.

Patent number: 5647371Abstract: There is provided a method for performing skin tests for biologic response which includes providing an applicator having at least one pick having at least one skin piercing epidermal point and being capable of carrying a load of testing substance such as biologic substances, such as an antigen, for skin testing for each pick, each of said sources being carried in a container having an opening. The applicator is placed in sealing relationship over each of the openings in the container to form a single unit of the combined applicator and source. The unit is then inverted so as to load each pick with an effective amount of substance to perform a skin test, reverting said unit, and the applicator is removed in loaded condition ready for use. The testing substances are epicutaneously deposited by piercing the patient's skin with each pick to a predetermined depth and observing the pierced skin for response to the testing substance.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1995Date of Patent: July 15, 1997Assignee: Greer Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: William White, Jr., Robert E. Esch, John A. Richardson

Patent number: 4322104Abstract: The door guard of the present invention utilizes an L-shaped bar which binds against the panic bar of the door and against the door frame to prevent the panic bar from being pulled down and thus opening the door. The L-shaped bar has a front and side leg. The front leg has attached to it an upper and lower tab which fits one on either side of the panic bar. The side leg binds against the door frame.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1980Date of Patent: March 30, 1982Assignee: Iowa State University Research Foundation, Inc.Inventors: Edward H.
