  • Publication number: 20160337295
Abstract: A system that analyses content of electronic communications may automatically extract requests or commitments from the electronic communications. In one example process, a processing component may analyze the content to determine one or more meanings of the content; query content of one or more data sources that is related to the electronic communications; and based, at least in part, on (i) the one or more meanings of the content and (ii) the content of the one or more data sources, automatically identify and extract a request or commitment from the content. Multiple actions may follow from initial recognition and extraction, including confirmation and refinement of the description of the request or commitment, and actions that assist one or more of the senders, recipients, or others to track and address the request or commitment, including the creation of additional messages, reminders, appointments, or to-do lists.

  • Patent number: 9427185
Abstract: The subject disclosure is directed towards monitoring user behavior on a computerized device for any deviation from normal or acceptable behavior that is likely to affect the user's mental state. A prediction model corresponding to features of one or more mental states may be compared with features based upon current user behavior. If the user's current behavior presents a mental state indicative of an uncharacteristic deviation from the normal or acceptable behavior, descriptive data associated with that mental state may be presented to the user in addition to a trusted individual, such as a health care professional.

  • Patent number: 9411903
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a faceted browser for decision-making that enables interactive visualization of a decision space as choices are made. According to one embodiment, a computer-implemented method comprises receiving a selection of a first choice from a user. The first choice is displayed in a user interface that includes a plurality of facets, each facet including a plurality of choices. The method further comprises disabling at least one second choice in response to the selection of the first choice, and determining a first result set in response to the selection of the first choice. The user interface is then updated in real-time to display the selected status of the first choice, the disabled status of the second choice, and the first result set to the user.

  • Publication number: 20160224574
Abstract: Biases in search and retrieval (i.e., situations where searchers seek or are presented with information that significantly deviates from the truth) may be detected by comparison to one or more authoritative sources. Once bias or potential bias is detected, techniques may be applied to indicate and/or compensate for the bias. • Patent number: 9268812
Abstract: Systems and methods for generating and playing a sequence of media objects based on a mood gradient are also disclosed. A mood gradient is a sequence of items, in which each item is media object having known characteristics or a representative set of characteristics of a media object, that is created or used by a user for a specific purpose. Given a mood gradient, one or more new media objects are selected for each item in the mood gradient based on the characteristics associated with that item. In this way, a sequence of new media objects is created but the sequence exhibits a similar variation in media object characteristics. The mood gradient may be presented to a user or created via a display illustrating a three-dimensional space in which each dimension corresponds to a different characteristic. The mood gradient may be represented as a path through the three-dimensional space and icons representing media objects are located within the three-dimensional space based on their characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20160005499
Abstract: A method of coating a nuclear reactor component includes introducing the nuclear reactor component into a colloidal solution at a first rate to obtain an immersed component. The colloidal solution is a non-crosslinked mixture including a dispersed phase within a dispersion medium. The dispersed phase may include n-type metal oxide particles. The method additionally includes removing the immersed component from the colloidal solution at a second rate to obtain a wet component. The method also includes drying the wet component to obtain a dried component. The method further includes baking the dried component to obtain a coated component. • Patent number: 9230726
Abstract: Systems and methods that allow for weight and size reduction of electronics components, such as transformer rectifier units (TRUs) or autotransformer rectifier units (ATRUs), by providing a fluid cooling system is utilized to provide high heat dissipation for a transformer assembly of TRUs or ATRUs by providing a thermal interface at the windings of the transformer assembly, which are the hottest spots in such assemblies. The cooling system may include a fluid-cooled winding heat sink element or “finger,” which may be a thermally conductive bar (e.g., aluminum, copper) having microchannels therein positioned between the core and windings of a transformer or between turns of the windings of a transformer. Fluid passes through the microchannels of the heat sink element to provide direct cooling to the heat generating windings of the transformers. The heat sink element may be produced by an additive manufacturing technology.

  • Publication number: 20150343975
Abstract: The present invention discloses embodiments of an apparatus, system and related method for diagnosing initiators in air bag systems. An embodiment of the system comprises a diagnostic circuit electrically connected between acceleration switches and one or more squib, that is user-activated via a momentary switch, and with user-feedback, wherein a user can diagnose the health of the one or more squib with no power drain while inactive. An embodiment of a method related to the system comprises activating a momentary switch, completing a circuit whereby a diagnostic circuit may function, indicating to the user that the diagnostic circuit is functioning, regulating the current into the diagnostic circuit so that the squib does not fire, boosting the signal to a window comparator, detecting the desired voltage by the window comparator, giving feedback to the user that the voltage is good, too high, or too low.

  • Patent number: 9189550
Abstract: Embodiment described herein are generally directed to a toolbar extension of a web browser that grabs a user's search engine query and suggests a refined search query known to yield better search results. The toolbar recognizes the web page the user is on as being associated with a search engine and retrieves the user's search query. The toolbar interacts with a refinement component on a server, and the refinement component determines a refined search query based on confidence scores assigned to data mined from a data center affiliated with different search engine (one related to the toolbar). The refined search query is returned and displayed in a search field of the toolbar, allowing the user to easily run the refined search on the different search engine.

  • Publication number: 20150287038
Abstract: Data visualizations include first and optionally second containers representing first and second time periods, respectively; each container encloses icons representing data entities associated with the container's time period. Icons from the first and second containers may be moved to the other container to change the time periods associated with data entities corresponding to the moved icons. Additionally, changes to attributes of data entities made via the data visualization may be shared with other users. A level indicator representing data entities associated with the first container aggregate attribute value changes in response to icons being added to or removed from the first container. The containers may be visually styled as cups, the level indicators as liquid and/or a straw contained in the cup, and the icons as bubbles or other objects in the liquid.

  • Patent number: 9064016
Abstract: Ranking search results using result repetition is described. In an embodiment, a set of results generated by a search engine is ranked or re-ranked based on whether any of the results were included in previous sets of results generated in response to earlier queries by the same user in one or more searching sessions. User behavior data, such as whether a user clicks on a result, skips a result or misses a result, is stored in real-time and the stored data is used in performing the ranking. In various examples, the ranking is performed using a machine-learning algorithm and various parameters, such as whether a result in a current set of results has previously been clicked, skipped or missed in the same session, are generated based on the user behavior data for the current session and input to the machine-learning algorithm.
