    Abstract: The invention pertains to a process and to a device for determining the internal condition of trees or wooden components, whereby a needle is inserted into the wood, with the aim of hereby obtaining measured results more precise than possible in the past. The solution proposed is to rotate the needle, whereby the diameter of the needle head is greater than the diameter of the needle shaft, and to measure the power consumption of the needle's drive mechanisms.
