  • Patent number: 5111920
Abstract: A luggage case 11 comprises two shells 12 and 13 hinged together along their back wall 19. The case is fastened by three latches. One latch 26 is key operated and located at the middle of the front wall 18. The other two latches 24 and 25 are located at the front of the end walls of the case and prevent gaping of the case when it is overfilled. The latches 24 and 25 are secured by sliding bolts.

  • Patent number: 4928800
Abstract: A luggage is provided with a steering handle (15) for steering the case when it is being rolled on the ground. The handle (15) is pivoted to the case shell (19) by means of a pivot pin (20) for movement between a closed position in which the handle (15) lies adjacent the shell (19) and an extended position in which the handle projects from the shell. Movement of the handle (15) away from the closed position is limited by means of a stay (23) connected between the case shell (19) and a position on the steering handle (15) spaced from the pivot pin (20) towards the free end of the handle (15). The stay (23) is of resilient flexible material. The base molding (17) of the handle is provided with a projection (32) which holds the stay (23) in a flexed condition when the handle (15) is in the closed position so that the stay (23) exerts a force on the handle tending to hold the handle (15) in the closed position. Thus, the need for a separate spring to hold the handle in the closed position is avoided.

  • Patent number: 4782673
Abstract: A connection device for releasably interconnecting two members (16, 18) preferably a receptacle and its lid, comprising an upper component (1, 101) which is provided with a hook (21, 102) and a lower component (2, 103) and a one- or two-armed lever (3, 104) which is articulated on said lower component and which is provided with a counterhook (15, 105). In order to avoid that the connection device springs open or disengages unintentionally, a snapper (5, 109) is pivotably attached to the end of the lever (3, 104) facing away from the counterhook (15, 105), said snapper being provided with a locking projection (13, 113) which is associated with a complementary, projecting locking member (14, 114) of the lower component (2, 103) and which is equipped with a spring (12, 115) holding the snapper (5, 109) in its locking position.

  • Patent number: 4707881
Abstract: A suitcase is provided with a rotating wheel 13 or roller mounted for rotation on axle 19. The axle 19 is secured to a resilient shock absorbing structure in the form of a disk of hard rubber 23, which in turn is secured to a mounting plate 24 fixed to the suitcase wall or shell 26. This arrangement allows vibrations resulting from contact of the wheel with the ground to be absorbed before they reach the case.
