Patent number: 9425683Abstract: In fly-back and buck-boost converters (21, 22), to reduce distortions and to increase distortion power factors, arrangements (1) are introduced for adjusting control signals generated by controllers (2) for controlling switches (3) of the converters. The arrangements (1), in response to increased/decreased amplitudes of voltage signals from voltage supplies (4) for feeding the converters, increase/decrease durations of conducting times of the switches (3). This way, unwanted losses in the grid and power generators are avoided. The converters are relatively low cost single stage converters. Preferably, the durations are substantially proportional to sums of the amplitudes of the voltage signals and design parameters. These design parameters may comprise amplitudes of other voltage signals such as output voltages. Arrangements (1) are provided for controllers (2) that can only produce fixed durations as well as for controllers (2) that can produce adaptable durations via adaptable external elements.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2012Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.Inventor: Willibrordus Jurrianus Dijkman

Publication number: 20120223933Abstract: The electrophoretic display panel (1) for displaying a picture and a subsequent picture has drive means (100) which are able to control for each pixel (2) the potential difference to have a picture value to provide the pixels (2) with a respective picture appearance being either extreme or intermediate, subsequently to have an inter-picture value to provide the pixels (2) with a respective inter-picture appearance, and subsequently to have a subsequent picture value. For the display panel (1) to be able to provide the pixels (2) with the inter-picture appearances which are in general relatively little visible, the drive means (100) are able to control for each pixel (2) an estimate potential difference as the inter-picture value to provide the pixels (2) with a respective estimate picture appearance as the inter-picture appearance.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2012Publication date: September 6, 2012Inventors: Guofu ZHOU, Willibrordus Jurrianus DIJKMAN, Mark Thomas JOHNSON

Patent number: 7126577Abstract: The invention relates to a display device comprising electrophoretic particles, a display element comprising a pixel electrode and an associated counter electrode, between which a portion of the electrophoretic particles is present, and a controller for supplying a drive signal to the electrodes to bring the display element to a predetermined black or white state, corresponding to the image information to be displayed. In order to improve the refresh time of the display, the controller is further arranged to supply a preset signal preceding the drive signal comprising a preset pulse representing an energy which is sufficient to release the electrophoretic particles at a first position near one of the two electrodes corresponding to a black state, but is too low to enable the particles to reach a second position near the other electrode corresponding to a white state.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2003Date of Patent: October 24, 2006Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventors: Guo-Fu Zhou, Mark Thomas Johnson, Alexander Victor Henzen, Willibrordus Jurrianus Dijkman

Patent number: 6633141Abstract: A cathode ray tube display having an in-line tube includes an electromagnetic unit for dynamically influencing the path or shape of the electron beams. The power for supplying current to the electromagnetic unit is drawn from the line deflection circuit, either through supply coil on a transformer arranged in parallel with the line deflection coil, or from a supply coil sound around the deflection unit core.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2000Date of Patent: October 14, 2003Assignee: Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.Inventor: Willibrordus Jurrianus Dijkman
