  • Publication number: 20120291561
Abstract: The apparatus mounts on a high pressure pipe and moves a witness coupon into and out of the pipe. A coupon holder assembly is secured to a driver. A coupon rod is engaged within the coupon holder assembly and the driver, wherein, an upper end of the coupon rod is engaged with the driver and a lower end of the coupon rod is positioned within the coupon holder assembly but may be driven in translation downwardly and out of the coupon holder assembly. A clamp may be engaged with the coupon rod securing it in a fixed position when the coupon rod is not being moved. A ball valve is used to isolate the apparatus from the high pressure pipe, and once isolated, a bleed valve is used to vent to atmospheric.

  • Publication number: 20120011923
Abstract: An assembly for insertion of an object into a pipeline comprises a base, a connector, and a set of pins. The base has a cylindrical passage and is connected to a mechanism for configured to drive the object into an inlet in the pipeline. The connector includes a head and a cylinder with a threaded internal surface and a external surface having a groove spanning a circumference of the external surface. The connector is rotatable within the cylindrical passage in the base in a first direction and held substantially stationary within the cylindrical passage in the base in a second direction by the set of pins in cooperation with the groove. The base is rotatable in the first direction and held substantially stationary in the second direction while connected to the inlet in the pipeline by the connector.

  • Patent number: 6802455
Abstract: The present invention provides a simple fluid atomizer having a pair of spring loaded sealing elements such that the pressure required to open both seals is the sum of the spring constants of each of the sealing elements. A central cavity is sealed at both its entry and exit by moving elements held by coil springs. When the fluid in the entry channel is able to overcome a first spring, the first sealing element is moved so as to allow fluid to enter the central cavity. When the fluid pressure within the central cavity reaches a level necessary to compress the exit spring, the entry fluid pressure must be at a level for achieving the delta pressure across both entry and exit springs.

  • Patent number: 6357470
Abstract: A packer joint is provided for mounting on a vessel or pipeline entry valve which includes a stinger guide and seal. Clamping collet are mounted within the packer to retain the stinger in the desired position. Different metals within the guide body from those of the stinger rod prevent gaulding and damage. A lock-up the rod may be released via a bore hole providing tapping access to the collets.

  • Patent number: 5138755
Abstract: A packer joint is provided for mounting on a vessel or pipeline entry valve which includes a stinger guide and an adjustable packer seal. A driving mechanism is mounted on the packer joint to which the stinger is connected for insertion through the packer joint into the vessel or pipe line. Improved clamping collets are mounted within the packer joint to retain the stinger in the desired position after insertion. A safety cap is provided for mounting on or around the packer joint and exposed end of the stinger after the stinger is inserted and the driving mechanism removed.

  • Patent number: 4697465
Abstract: A corrosion coupon holder for inserting and removing a coupon from the interior of a pipeline while under pressure has an elongated housing with a threaded connection at one end and a removable closure device at the other end, the housing connection to be attached to a pipe entry valve which is connected as a branch to the pipeline. The housing other end also carries a guide body having a bore which guidingly and sealingly receives a rod for inserting a coupon having a safety stop element at one end to hold the coupon, the guide body having a split collet associated with the bore with a locking screw mounted to act on the collet to fixedly clamp the rod in the bore of the guide body and the housing having a bleeder valve communicating with the interior to relieve pressure from within such interior.

  • Patent number: 4116157
Abstract: A visual indicating device having an elongated slide valve mounted for longitudinal movement in a central bore of a housing. One end of the slide valve has a piston thereon mounted in a piston chamber and is responsive to a sensed fluid pressure in a flow line. The visual indicator is adjacent the other end of the slide valve and includes an outer fixed indicator element and an inner axially aligned rotatable indicator element. The outer fixed indicator element has a plurality of pie-shaped segments with alternate segments being transparent to permit visual viewing of the movable inner indicator element. The inner indicator element has a plurality of pie-shaped segments with alternate segments being of a green color and intervening segments being of a red or contrasting color.
