  • Publication number: 20080119724
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for implant placement analysis. Certain embodiments of a method include determining a position of an implant with respect to an implantation site, examining image data related to the implantation site surrounding the implant, and generating contact metric data based on a relation between the image data and the implant. Certain embodiments of a system include a processor configured to determine a position of an implant with respect to an implantation site and to examine image data related to the implantation site surrounding the implant. The processor generates contact metric data based on a relation between the image data and the implant. Certain embodiments also include a display configured to display an image of the implantation site and the contact metric data to a user.

  • Publication number: 20080118115
Abstract: Certain embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for representing a tool or implant in an image. Certain embodiments provide a user interface system for displaying a representation of a tool or implant with respect to an image. The system includes a processor configured to establish a surface boundary for a region of interest depict in the image and configured to determine a position of the tool or implant with respect to the surface boundary, and a display configured to dynamically display the image and the representation to a user. The processor generates a representation of the tool or implant based on the position with respect to the surface boundary. A portion of the tool or implant inside the surface boundary is depicted in the representation with a degree of transparency compared to a portion of the tool or implant outside the surface boundary.

  • Publication number: 20010021806
Abstract: A system and method for intra-operatively providing a surgeon with visual evaluations of possible surgical outcomes ahead of time, and generating simulated data, includes a medical imaging camera, a registration device for registering data to a physical space, and to the medical imaging camera, and a fusion mechanism for fusing the data and the images to generate simulated data, without correcting for distortion. The simulated data (e.g., such as augmented X-ray images) is natural and easy for a surgeon to interpret. In an exemplary implementation, the system preferably includes a data processor which receives a three-dimensional surgical plan or three-dimensional plan of therapy delivery, one or a plurality of two-dimensional intra-operative images, a three-dimensional model of pre-operative data, registration data, and image calibration data.

  • Patent number: 4492078
Abstract: Polygonal turbine casings which have inherent resistance to deformation by virtue of their many flat sides taking thermal loads etc. in compression or tension, are improved upon by the present invention by way of assembling the casing so as to pre-tension its flats to such an extent that any compressive loads which are felt, never reach a value which would entirely negate the tensile load.

  • Patent number: 4344736
Abstract: This device is aimed at solving the problem of varying sealing gaps between a rotatable turbine disc and fixed structure. Axial movement of the turbine disc relative to the fixed casing causes a ring coaxially carried in air bearings on the turbine disc for relative rotation and movement therewith, to operate at least one lever which in turn rotates a shaft. Rotation of the shaft operates further levers to cause seal rings operatively supported thereby, to precisely follow the axial movement of the turbine disc.
