    Abstract: A motorized window covering system is presented having a rotatable drive element having a guide structure and a plurality of idler attachment elements and at least one drive element positioned over the rotatable drive element. A motor is connected to the rotatable drive element and controls operation of the window covering. An external battery tube assembly is connected by a conduit to the rotatable drive element and is configured to provide power to the motor. The external battery tube assembly includes a switch and controls operation of the motorized window covering. When pulled or lifted the external battery tube assembly initiates movement, stops movement or reverses movement of the motor. In this way, the system provides a unique way of controlling operation of a motorized window covering.

    Abstract: An umbrella system includes a support pole connected to a rotating tube positioned around a center tube that extends between the support pole and a center support that is connected to an umbrella frame. The rotating tube has one or more helical grooves therein that are engaged by teeth of a hub which is connected to the umbrella frame. As the rotating tube is rotated, the hub is driven along the length of the rotating tube thereby opening and closing the umbrella frame. In one arrangement system includes a motor housing assembly including a plurality of batteries and a motor that includes a driven gear that meshes with a stationary gear which causes rotation of the rotating tube. The system also includes a counterbalance assembly positioned within the rotating tube. The counterbalance assembly includes at least one spring positioned within the rotating tube that provides a counterbalance force.

The system includes a wireless device which is wirelessly connected to wireless access point which is connected to a gateway which is wirelessly connected to at least one motorized window covering. The wireless device has a display and an application installed thereon. The application includes an interactive illustration of a window with a moveable bottom bar that extends there across and a plurality of actuation buttons. When a user actuates either the moveable bottom bar or any one of the actuation buttons, the wireless device transmits a control signal to any wirelessly connected motorized window covering instructing it to move in a directed manner. This system provides a convenient and easy to use system and method of controlling motorized window shades.

The remote control includes a dwell function wherein when a button is pressed for less than a predetermined amount of time a first signal is sent, wherein when a button is pressed for more than a predetermined amount of time a second signal is sent. The remote control also includes a plurality of scene buttons wherein when pressed a plurality of architectural coverings are moved to a predetermined position. The remote control also includes a channel selector and a jog function wherein a unique signal is sent for each jog position between a fully open position and a fully closed position.

The motorized wand system includes a housing that houses a motor, a gear box and a motor controller. The wand is twistably connected to the housing. An extender is removably connected to the lower end of the wand to extend the length thereof. The motorized wand system is connected to a conventional horizontal blind by a hook member connected to the tilt knob of the blind and adhering a mounting flange to the head rail of the blind. The motorized wand system is connected to a conventional vertical blind by a mounting member connected to a clip and tilt knob of the vertical blind and a bellows that connects the mounting member and upper end of the motorized wand system.
