    Abstract: A flame-proof housing (10) of the protection type ex-d is made from two sheet metal blanks that are bent in a u-shaped fashion. They then are fitted into one another and subsequently welded together by means of a peripheral fillet weld without welding seam preparation. A large opening (28) can be provided on one side of the housing (10), which can be closed with a threaded cover or with a flat cover.
