  • Patent number: 4735758
Abstract: Method and apparatus for the manufacture of one-dimensional or multi-dimensional curved or angularly formed, preferably moldings of mineral wool, which is impregnated with a binder, in that a matching or chosen piece of binder impregnated mineral wool felt (9) or mineral wool is compressed between mold parts comprising a matrix (4) and a counter die (1), whereafter the matrix (4) and/or the counter die (1) cures the binder of the mineral wool body formed by the matrix and the counter die, whereby the mineral wool felt (9) is compressed in two or several steps, namely in at least a first step between the counter die (1) and a portion (5) of the matrix (4), whereafter the remaining part (6) of the matrix (4) in one or several successive steps is fold or pressed to the mineral wool felt (9), so that all remaining parts thereof are pressed to the counter die (1), whereby all parts of the mineral wool felt (9) is given a predetermined thickness.

  • Patent number: 4357154
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for collecting and handling partly fibrated material which is formed by a partial fibrating of a mineral bloom (1), whereby the partially fibrated material is collected and brought into suspension in a water bath (11) in which the un-fibrated material is separated and the fibrated material is collected and removed for the manufacture of mineral fibre products. In the water bath (11) the fibre fraction and the partially fibrated material is kept in water suspension (by 12) whereas un-fibrated and more heavy material is allowed to sink to the bottom from which such material is removed (by 13). The collecting of the fibre material just formed is preferably made by flows of water (6, 7) and while suspending the fibre material in air (by 38, 40). The separation of fibre material is made by dynamical separation in one or several stages.

  • Patent number: 4119421
Abstract: Apparatus for manufacturing mineral fibers from a mineral melt. Two groups of spinner wheels are arranged symmetrically with respect to each other. Each group includes a primary spinner wheel which receives molten mineral and a secondary spinner wheel to which material is transferred from the primary spinner wheel. The wheels in each group are rotated on horizontal axes in opposite directions and the secondary spinner wheels are rotated in a direction such that at the place where they are closest to one another, the peripheral motion of each is upward. An air stream is directed horizontally and generally axially of the spinner wheels such that it sweeps over the peripheral surfaces of the spinner wheels for transferring fibers to a fiber collection surface.
