Abstract: A clamping and/or braking device with a basic body (3) has a clamping and/or braking region for pressurizing an element (9). Basic body (3) has an actuating mechanism which, upon actuation, causes a substantially elastic deformation of the basic body (3), so that the clamping and/or braking region is moved into or out of a pressurizing position or that the pressurizing force which the clamping and/or braking region exerts on the element (9) is changed. The actuating mechanism comprises a minimum of one chamber (15), which can be pressurized and which is located on or incorporated in the basic body (3) and which is bounded at least in part by a minimum of one wall (13), at least partial regions of which are flexible but tension-proof and/or pressure-resistant.

Abstract: A telephone message recording device for recording messages from a caller on an incoming telephone line, including a recording memory for recording of calls and incoming messages, an announcement memory, a detector responsive to incoming telephone calls and producing a start signal for the announcement memory, a voice detector switch for detecting whether there are voice signals on the incoming line and supplying a start signal to the recording memory and a pair of numeric displays indicating that a call or calls have been received, one display for indicating the number of calls received and a second display for indicating the number of calls which have been recorded on the recording memory. First and second counters are provided for the displays formed by two-digit BCD counters whose output signals are applied via multiplexers and drive circuits to the associated display.

Abstract: The disazo pigment of the formula ##STR1## in the .beta.-modification thereof, whose X-ray diffraction pattern at an interplanar spacing of 3.33 A.degree. shows a line of very strong intensity, at 5.38 and 8.33 A.degree. lines of strong intensity, at 3.74, 4.24, 4.68, 4.94, 5.18 and 8.70 A.degree. lines of medium intensity, at 4.05, 4.37, 6.33 and 12.6 A.degree. lines of medium to faint intensity, at 3.50, 3.49, 5.65, 6.09, 6.71, 10.6 and 11.5 A.degree. lines of faint intensity.The .beta.-modified pigment is a brilliant yellowish red color and may be used to color high molecular weight organic materials such as polycarbonates, polyvinyl chloride and polypropylene.

Abstract: Disazo pigments of the formula ##STR1## in which A denotes a radical of the formulae ##STR2## wherein X.sub.1, Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 each denote hydrogen or chlorine, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy, X stands for branched alkyl having 3 to 9 carbon atoms, Y denotes hydrogen, halogen or lower alkyl, Y.sub.3 denotes hydrogen or lower alkyl, Z is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or lower carbalkoxy and n or 2 are useful for coloring plastics and lacquers in yellow shades having excellent fastness properties, especially fastness to weathering.

Abstract: A compound of the formula ##STR1## in which A represents phenylene which may be substituted by chlorine, bromine, methyl, methoxy, ethoxy or cyano, X represents hydrogen or chlorine, and R represents methyl or ethyl, was prepared. The compounds are useful for pigmenting high molecular organic materials such as polyamides, polyurethanes and polyesters. The compounds have excellent fastness to light, migration, weather and to alkali.
