  • Patent number: 5338250
Abstract: A plate deboner for processing a rib plate by severing the lean portion from the rib portion along a desired cut line by rotating the rib plate along the circumference of a drum and over a reciprocating cutting blade located below the center axis of the drum.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 1992
Date of Patent: August 16, 1994
    Assignee: Bond Equipment Corp.
Inventors: Wilson H. Swilley, Michael D. Wohlhutter
  • Patent number: 5152226
Abstract: An improved switch for an overhead trolley track system, which is adaptable to be inserted between intersecting tracks and adjustable for handling trolley movement from one track to another. The improved switch includes a unique pivot and shaft assembly whereby the hub member attached to the track lift piece rotates or pivots freely about an outer shaft without applying force to an inner shaft mounted to the track, thereby avoiding constant maintenance, malfunctions, and system interruption.

  • Patent number: 4707885
Abstract: A head hold down device for holding the head during an up hide-pulling operation, which includes a pair of parallel bars extending substantially parallel to an overhead track conveyor where one of the bars is in fixed position and the other is movable for purposes of gripping and releasing the head of an animal carcass during the up hide-stripping operation. The hold down device is adjustable along the vertical to accommodate animal carcasses of various sizes.

Date of Patent: November 24, 1987
Assignee: The Cincinnati Butchers' Supply Company
    Inventor: Wilson H. Swilley
  • Patent number: 4653149
Abstract: An animal hide puller for use in a slaughtering process to remove the hide from an animal carcass, including a rotatable and vertically movable hide drum coacting with an overhead track from which an animal is supported and a stanchion for fixing the position of the forelegs. The drum is vertically driven along an arcuate path commensurate with approximate contour of the back of the animal.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4653145
Abstract: A livestock head splitter for splitting the head of an animal for recovering head organs including a plurality of circumferentially arranged head trays or holders rotatably movable through loading, head-splitting and discharge stations. A vertically reciprocal blade is provided above each tray or holder and rotatably moves with the tray or holder so that it is always aligned to split a head positioned on the tray or holder. The split heads are automatically discharged at the discharge station. A hydraulic drive system rotates the trays and drives the knives during the movement of the trays through the head-splitting station. Control means at the head-splitting station causes operation of the head-splitting knife. A protective cover encloses the apparatus and only allows an operator ingress for loading a head onto a tray as it moves through the loading station.

  • Patent number: 4646646
Abstract: A switch for controlling the movement of trolleys on overhead tracks, which comprises a plurality of tracks intersecting with each other, wherein the switch is adaptable to be inserted between intersecting tracks and adjustable for handling trolley movement from one track to another. The switch is adaptable to be inserted between straight and curved tracks, curved and curved tracks, and to automatically handle the movement of the trolleys in one direction, and includes a unique cable transmission system for controlling trolley movement which provides positive movement of said lift pieces without relying on gravitational forces, thereby avoiding malfunctions.

  • Patent number: 4221021
Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically electrically stimulating a series of carcasses in a production environment applies an electrical impulse to selective portions of an endless belt which are in contacting relationship with the carcass. The portions of the belt which come into contact with carcasses are sterilized prior to contacting subsequent carcasses. A plurality of impulses of predetermined duration are applied and these impulses are separated by periods of relaxation of predetermined duration.

  • Patent number: 4027598
Abstract: The stepping conveyor comprises a walking beam which carries a plurality of trolley pushers or impellers adapted to advance, in one direction and in step by step fashion, a succession of trolleys that are movable along an overhead trolley rail; the walking beam incorporating structural improvements that minimize the cost of manufacture, of installation, and operation, and ensure a high degree of stability and resistance to wear in the walking beam system.
