  • Publication number: 20240131656
Abstract: This application describes a magnetic valve for controlling the flow of media in wheel-blast style abrasive blasting cabinets. The valve features a novel air aspiration system comprising of aspiration inlets, chamber, and outlets, in a configuration which guarantees passage of air from ambient into the peening system regardless of installation. This system acts as a passive aspiration source to counteract the negative pressures imposed by the wheel-blast blades in the valve's off-state. This arrangement eliminates the need for other means of aspiration to be installed in the peening system by the end user.

Abstract: A method for tuning a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) system. The method may include determining a signal strength from a first Raman Pump in the DAS system, sweeping a laser pulse output from a transmitter; wherein the sweeping is an incremental increase of a power of the laser pulse output from a minimum pulse power to a maximum pulse power, and measuring a first signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) for each of the incremental increase of the power of the laser pulse output. The method may further comprise selecting a maximum SNR from the first SNR for each of the incremental increase of the power of the laser pulse output and configuring the first Raman Pump and the laser pulse output based at least in part on the maximum SNR.

  • Publication number: 20240133480
Abstract: A valve for regulating the flow of ferromagnetic peening materials, consisting of an arrangement of pole pieces, spacers, permanent magnets, and electrical coils. This arrangement uses an angular magnetic field to concentrate holding strength within the working gaps without sacrificing holding strength to the environment, increasing the valve's efficiency. Additionally, this valve covers a large range of flow rates by exchanging center bars and magnets of different sizes, without otherwise increasing the size of the valve.

  • Publication number: 20240133478
Abstract: A sacrificial media shield to be used in flow control valves in high volume wheel blast peening machines, comprised from a wear resistant material. This shield is intended to prevent undesired wear to the valve and its components via an offset arrangement, which isolates the majority of contact with the abrasive media stream to the media shield. This prevents plastic contamination within the media stream. Being a replaceable component, the shield extends the operating life of the valve by avoiding replacement of the valve in its entirety.

  • Patent number: 11965429
Abstract: A turbomachine component has a wall outer surface and an internal coolant source. A film-cooling hole is in the wall and extends from the internal coolant source to the wall outer surface. The film-cooling hole includes a metering section in fluid communication with the internal coolant source, and a diffuser section in fluid communication with the metering section and including a first internal surface spaced from a second internal surface. A coating collector receives part of a coating and is part of the diffuser section. The film-cooling hole also includes a hood section including a member extending outwardly from the wall outer surface. The member may include a hood internal surface contiguous with the first internal surface of the diffuser section and a hood outer surface parallel to the wall outer surface. The hood section reduces, and possibly prevents, the coating from filling the film-cooling hole during application thereof.

  • Patent number: 11965537
Abstract: A shear coupling can be used with reciprocating and rotary pumps. The shear coupling uses a shear nut and connecting member as the shear element. The connecting member and shear nut are located inside the axial bore of the shear coupling to protect from corrosive wellbore elements. The coupling members may be connected by matching polygonal shaft and hub profiles on the coupling members to transmit torque. The shaft and hub may have octagonal profiles for better torque transmission capacity. The shear nut may be isolated from large alternating stresses due to pretensioning of the connecting member. The length of the connecting member, especially when pretensioned, and a reduced cross-section that may be formed on the outer surface of the shear coupling increase the overall flexibility of the shear coupling, thereby increasing the resistance to bending stress.

  • Patent number: 11966418
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for adaptive data replication. A first data object is stored. One or more first network characteristics of a communication network are detected. A first replication mode is triggered (e.g., a single-master replication mode) based on the one or more first network characteristics of the communication network. The single-master replication may be configured to facilitate real-time synchronizations (e.g., for critical updates). One or more second network characteristics of the communication network are detected. A second replication mode (e.g., a multi-master replication mode) is triggered based on the one or more second network characteristics. The second replication may be configured to facilitate a delayed synchronization (e.g., for non-critical updates) of the first data object and the second data object using the second update file.
