  • Patent number: 10346369
Abstract: A storage system maintains copies of a source database to allow virtual databases to be provisioned. Transaction logs received from the source database are applied to database blocks stored in the storage system to update the database blocks. The storage system checks if there are defect in the transaction logs of the source database. If a defect in transaction logs is detected, the storage system obtains a latest copy of the source database. The storage system matches database blocks of the received copy with database blocks already available in the storage system to determine whether a corresponding database block is already available in the storage system. If a received database block is different from database blocks already available at the storage system, the received database block is stored in the storage system. The database blocks may be matched using a hash value of the database blocks.

  • Patent number: 10345845
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include systems, methods, devices, and circuits for fast settling of a bias node. Consistent with some embodiments, a bias circuit may include a successive-approximation-register-analog-to-digital converter (SAR-ADC) based settling loop configured to perform a fast settling process for a heavily loaded bias node. The SAR-ADC based loop performs a SAR-ADC process that includes measuring a reference signal to determine a number of cells in a capacitor array that are involved in a charge sharing process while simultaneously completing the settling process for the bias node.

  • Patent number: 10349119
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for managing networks. Devices in a neighborhood may communicate with a termination server (TS) at a local office. The devices may also communicate locally with one another using a second, localized network. As an alternative to obtaining network communication and initialization data from the TS, the devices may consult with devices on the local network to determine if such devices have the initialization data available for use. Through the local network, the devices may also share tuning resources with one another, so that neighboring devices may use each others' resources to render or record additional content when their own resources are otherwise unavailable.

  • Patent number: 10342909
Abstract: A microfluidic device for increasing convective clearance of particles from a fluid is provided. In some implementations, described herein the microfluidic device includes multiple layers that each define infusate, blood, and filtrate channels. Each of the channels have a pressure profile. The device can also include one or more pressure control features. The pressure control feature controls a difference between the pressure profiles along a length of the device. For example, the pressure control feature can control the difference between the pressure profile of the filtrate channel and the pressure profile of the blood channel. In some implementations, the pressure control feature controls the pressure difference between two channels such that the difference varies along the length of the channels by less than 50% of the pressure difference between the channels at the channels' inlets.

  • Patent number: 10342232
Abstract: A binder, and related processes, has been developed for biological agent defeat formulations. This highly iodinated binder is based on the polymer polyethylene tetraiodoterephthalamide. The materials have been formulated with metal fuel particles, such as aluminum, and various oxidizers, such as metal oxides. The binder-thermite composites may be actuated to initiate oxidation, therein generating heat. Upon thermal decomposition of these materials, iodine, a biocide, is released allowing for sterilization of biological agents.

  • Patent number: 10345106
Abstract: Described herein are various technologies pertaining to extracting one or more features from trajectory data recorded during motion of a body, and further, generating a n-dimensional feature vector based upon the one or more extracted features. The n-dimensional feature vector enables expedited analysis of the trajectory data from which the feature vector was generated. For example, rather than having to analyze a trajectory curve comprising a large number of time-position data points, the n-dimensional feature vector can be compared with one or more search parameters to facilitate clustering of the trajectory data associated with the n-dimensional feature vector with other trajectory data which also satisfies the search request. The trajectory data can be plotted on a screen in combination with the n-dimensional feature vector, and other pertinent information. The trajectory data, etc., can be displayed using heat maps or other graphical representation.

  • Patent number: 10344736
Abstract: The invention provides optimal control of a three-degree-of-freedom wave energy converter using a pseudo-spectral control method. The three modes are the heave, pitch and surge. A dynamic model is characterized by a coupling between the pitch and surge modes, while the heave is decoupled. The heave, however, excites the pitch motion through nonlinear parametric excitation in the pitch mode. The invention can use a Fourier series as basis functions to approximate the states and the control. For the parametric excited case, a sequential quadratic programming approach can be implemented to numerically solve for the optimal control. The numerical results show that the harvested energy from three modes is greater than three times the harvested energy from the heave mode alone. Moreover, the harvested energy using a control that accounts for the parametric excitation is significantly higher than the energy harvested when neglecting this nonlinear parametric excitation term.

  • Patent number: 10348840
Abstract: In a network capable of handling a number of concurrent network connections between network nodes, referred to as client and server, the client and server connection managers are customized by adding respective status handler components which add server status information requests, from client to server, and responsive status information, from server to client into message headers of messages being sent between the server and client. The supported server status information types for any given connection are defined when a connection is established through dialogue between the client and server, and then persist for the lifetime of the connection. The customizations of the server and client connection managers are modest and the increase in network traffic over the connection is proportionally very small. Moreover, status information requests can be processed and responded to quickly by attaching to messages that are being sent between the nodes.

  • Patent number: 10345934
Abstract: A shield that is attachable to a touch sensitive screen is disclosed. The shield may be attached to the touch sensitive screen only at its outer peripheral portion. An air gap is enclosed between the shield and the touch sensitive screen to form a planar air bearing. The shield preferably does not touch the active area of the touch sensitive screen when the user is not touching the shield but only viewing the touch sensitive screen through the shield. This mitigates unwanted optical artifacts such as trapped air bubbles, Newton rings and chromatic interference while maintaining the sensitivity of the touch sensitive screen.

  • Publication number: 20190206057
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for modeling neural architecture. Regions of interest of a brain of a subject can be identified based on image data characterizing the brain of the subject. the identified regions of interest can be mapped to a connectivity matrix. The connectivity matrix can be a weighted and undirected network. A multivariate transformation can be applied to the connectivity matrix to transform the connectivity matrix into a partial correlation matrix. The multivariate transformation can maintain a positive definite constraint for the connectivity matrix. The partial correlation matrix can be transformed into a neural model indicative of the connectivity matrix.

  • Patent number: RE47498
Abstract: A control system monitors the angle of each ranging arm, with respect to the mainframe of the machine. While the machine is in a defined zone along the face, if the angle of the arm is detected to be lower than a parameter defined set-point called the undercut limit, the control system does not allow the arm to be lowered further. When entering the run of face from either gate end, if either of the ranging arms are below the set point, the horizontal movement of the shearer is stopped, and an alarm message is generated, and a warning light begins to flash, alerting the operator that he must raise the arm before horizontal movement of the shearer can be enabled.
