    Abstract: A molding press comprises a stationary platen or die fixed in a machine frame and a cooperating movable platen or die positionable toward and away from the stationary platen for operation through a molding cycle. Cam slot and follower guide means direct the movable platen through a clamshell movement; and a scissors mechanism is connected between the machine frame and the movable platen with a reversible electric motor providing rotational force to the lead screw of the scissors mechanism.
