    Abstract: A surgical sponge principally for blunt dissection formed of an elongated strip of absorbent material such as woven cotton or the like rolled to form a cylindrical structure. At least the outer layer of the roll is adhesively secured to the roll to prevent unwinding and a radiation opaque material is contained within the sponge and is preferably intermixed with the adhesive.
