  • Patent number: 6396272
Abstract: In a method for the operation of a magnetic resonance apparatus having at least one gradient coil and elements for generating a force acting on the gradient tube, with which natural oscillation modes of the gradient tube are excited, so as to oppose oscillations of the gradient tube produced by Lorentz forces, drive signals are supplied for the excitation of the elements, and the amplitudes and/or the phases of the drive signals are varied for adjusting the force generated by the elements and acting on the gradient tube so as to compensate modifications of the oscillatory behavior of the gradient tube. The drive signals are varied dependent on at least one measured value representing a criterion for the change of the oscillatory behavior.

  • Patent number: 6297635
Abstract: A gradient coil arrangement for a nuclear magnetic resonance tomography apparatus contains windings arranged in a primary winding plane as well as further windings arranged in a secondary winding plane. The primary and the secondary winding planes are radially spaced from each other thereby have a radial spacing. At an end face of the gradient coil arrangement, the windings have a number of open (free) conductor ends, and connector elements connect conductor ends in the primary winding plane to conductor ends in the secondary winding plane and/or connect conductor ends within one of the winding planes to one another. The connector elements are switchably fashioned for forming gradient coil arrangements having different field qualities/performance features.

  • Patent number: 6236209
Abstract: Actively shielded, transversal gradient coil system for a nuclear magnetic resonance tomography apparatus, wherein the windings of the coils implemented in 3D technology include a plurality of open conductor ends, and wherein the connector elements for conductor ends discharging between the center planes of neighboring shim pockets are planar plate connectors arranged in a plurality of planes, insulated from one another, that respectively include a base part secured to a carrier ring and lying completely outside the shim pocket and include conductor fastening legs projecting substantially radially outward therefrom that are arranged circumferentially offset relative to one another in the planes lying above one another.

  • Patent number: 6236207
Abstract: A coil system for magnetic resonance systems that surrounds a generally cylindrical examination volume, has coil plies formed by X-gradient coils arranged symmetrically relative to the YZ plane and spaced from one another, and Y-coils arranged symmetrically relative to the XZ plane and spaced from one another, and Z-coils arranged symmetrically relative to the XY plane and spaced from another. An indirect cooling with embedded cooling conduits through which a coolant flows is achieved by cooling conduits integrated in the interspaces of the conductor structure of the coil plies for cooling the conductor structures in a coil ply lying therebelow and/or thereabove.

  • Patent number: 6157280
Abstract: A switchable gradient coil arrangement for a magnetic resonance tomography apparatus, has conductor ends in the primary plane (or planes) that can be differently connected to one another and/or to conductor ends in the secondary plane (or planes) to form respective coil arrangements having different field qualities/performance features. The connections are produced by a switch system composed of standard switches for the logical interconnection of the individual sub-coils, in the form of at least four bipolar switches. One of these switches, as a power connection switch connects the ends of each sub-coil to the power terminals, one switch is connected parallel to the sub-coil, and at least one switch is arranged in a connection branch that branches for optional connection to other sub-coils.

  • Patent number: 5695872
Abstract: A glued connection suitable for attaching high power electronic components to a mounting location, such as on a cooling element, has an electrically insulating base layer of unfilled adhesive applied onto at least one surface of the parts to be glued. An adhesive filled with an electrically insulating powder that has good thermal conductivity is applied onto at least one part surface. Grains of the powder puncture the base layer, and the thickness of the glued connection thus essentially corresponds to the size of the grains.

  • Patent number: 5526231
Abstract: A cooling unit for a number of power semiconductors is formed by a quadrangular tube to which the power semiconductors are secured at an exterior with good thermal conductivity, in an equipping region of the tube. The quadrangular tube has a coolant inlet and a coolant outlet. The quadrangular tube contains a laminarization unit disposed in a region following the coolant inlet, this region overlapping the equipping region. The laminarization unit produces a substantially laminar flow of the coolant in the tube within the aforementioned region. In a region between the laminarization unit and the coolant outlet, the quadrangular tube contains a number of turbulence-producing elements for introducing turbulence into the coolant flow.
