  • Patent number: 5370526
Abstract: In order to improve a burner for generating hot gas having a burner pipe, comprising a support pipe followed by a flame pipe, a nozzle arranged in the support pipe, a fuel jet exiting from the nozzle, a shield separating a precombustion chamber and a combustion chamber from one another in the burner pipe, the shield having a central passage penetrated by the fuel jet, recirculation openings arranged in the flame pipe and allowing an outer recirculation of cooled flue gas and an element for suppressing the outer recirculation during a starting phase of the burner, such that a reliable suppression of the outer recirculation during the starting phase is possible it is suggested that the element for suppressing the outer recirculation be arranged within the burner pipe and be controllable via a control means guided through an interior of the support pipe.

  • Patent number: 4718243
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of operating a heat pump system in an absorption heat pump mode and/or boiler heating mode. According to this method, a solution of a refrigerant in a solvent is heated in a boiler, the evaporated refrigerant is delivered either directly to an absorber through a condenser, a throttle and an evaporator when the system is operated in the heat pump mode, or directly to an absorber when the system is in the boiler heating mode. The refrigerant is combined with the solvent that is drawn, low in refrigerant, from the boiler. The rich solution thus obtained is redirected to the boiler. To shut down the system, the heating of the boiler is turned off.

  • Patent number: 4692319
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for desulfurizing flue gas n fuel oil firing systems comprising a residual heat exchanger forming an acid condensate. A neutralizing agent is added to the acid condensate and the neutralized condensate recirculated to the residual heat exchanger for the purpose of dissolving sulfur dioxide. The apparatus for carrying out this method in a fuel oil firing system comprising a residual heat exchanger and a collecting tank for the condensate is provided with a pump and a tank filled with neutralizing agent which are both disposed in a condensate recirculation conduit leading from the collecting tank to the residual heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4629414
Abstract: The invention relates to a hot-gas generating burner comprising a nozzle charging a fuel jet which then enters a mixing tube, and an orifice plate surrounding the outlet of the nozzle. The casing of the burner is divided by the orifice plate into an upstream-disposed precombustion chamber which includes the nozzle, and a downstream combustion chamber which contains the mixing tube. The orifice has a central passage for the fuel jet which is discharged from the nozzle and a number of openings surrounding the passage. In order to reduce the noise concomitant with the operation of the burner, the spacing between the peripheries of the neighboring openings equals at least 50% of the diameter of the openings, and/or the openings in the orifice plate are associated with at least one air duct in the direction of flow.

  • Patent number: 4604104
Abstract: In a gasifying oil burner with an oil atomizing device, with combustion air upply means surrounding the atomizing device, with a shield having a shield opening, said shield being disposed downstream of the outlet of the atomizer, with a mixing tube disposed downstream of the outlet of the atomizer, with a mixing tube disposed downsteam of an co-axial with the shield opening, with a radial passage at an upstream portion of the mixing tube, with a generally cylindric flame tube whose upstream end is sealingly connected to the end wall of the combustion air supply means carrying the shield, and wherein it is proposed that the mixing tube be provided with a solid wall at a section thereof adjoining the shield, that the radial passage adjoin a part of the mixing tube provided with the solid wall, and that the axial length of the mixing tube portion with the solid wall extending between the shield and the radial passage be between the 0.1-multiple and the 0.

  • Patent number: 4464907
Abstract: In an absorption heat pump capable of bivalent operation, to make possible combined operation in addition to the pure heat pump operation and the pure boiler operation, it is proposed to divide the refrigerant stream after the condenser and the stream of weak solution leaving the boiler, with one component stream of the refrigerant being fed through the refrigerant throttle and the vaporizer to a low-pressure absorber, into which a component stream of the weak solution is introduced through the temperature changer and the solvent throttle, while the other component stream of the refrigerant is fed either directly to the boiler or to a high-pressure absorber, to which the other component stream of the weak solution is fed directly in both cases, and to feed the strong solution from the low-pressure absorber through the temperature changer and/or the reflux condenser to the boiler, but on the other hand to feed the solution from the high-pressure absorber directly to the boiler.

  • Patent number: 4441879
Abstract: An oil burner for installation in heating or steam-raising boilers. The ber has downstream of an oil atomization device a plate having a single opening or a plurality of openings arranged in a ring coaxially of the oil atomising device, the plate opening or openings being the only throughway for combustion air. A mixing tube is arranged coaxially at a distance downstream of the plate. The mixing tube has a diameter greater than the diameter of the single opening or of a circle which encloses the plurality of openings in the plate. A flame tube positioned coaxially around the mixing tube has a length such that the flow of combustion gases downstream of the mixing tube is applied against the internal wall of the flame tube. To enable the burner alternatively to be used for burning gaseous fuel at will, an annular chamber for the supply of a gaseous fuel and having gas outlet openings in the region of the plate opening or openings is also provided downstream of and close to the plate.
