  • Patent number: 4709074
Abstract: The novel urethanes correspond to the formula I below ##STR1## in which a denotes a number from 5 to 17 and b denotes a number from 1 to 7. These urethanes are prepared by reacting the corresponding perfluoroalkylethanol/epichlorohydrin adducts with toluelene diisocyanates. The novel aqueous dispersions are essentially composed of the novel urethanes, cationic or betaine emulsifiers and non-ionic emulsifiers, water-insoluble carboxylic and/or dicarboxylic acid esters and alkanediols or polyalkanediols which can be etherified on one or both sides, in water. The novel urethanes and the novel aqueous dispersions are used to impart an oleophobic and hydrophobic finish to textiles, leather and furs. They are also suitable for the treatment of unpainted timber, for example unpainted furniture.

  • Patent number: 4564520
Abstract: Hair shampoo and body cleansing agent having a content of alkyl-sulfatobetaine of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 alkyl or C.sub.8 -C.sub.22 alkenyl, preferably C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 alkyl, R.sub.2 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, preferably methyl, R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 hydroxyalkyl or a group of the formula --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.n H and n is an integer of from 1 to 10.

  • Patent number: 4430272
Abstract: Fluorine-containing alkylsulfobetaines of the general formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.f denotes a perfluoroalkyl radical having 3 to 16 C atoms, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which can be identical or different, denote alkyl radicals or hydroxyalkyl radicals having 1 to 4 C atoms, a is zero or 1, b assumes the value 1 when a is equal to 1 and the values 1 to 4 when a is equal to 0, and c is 3 or 4, are described. These are prepared by reacting the corresponding fluorine-containing amines with propanesultone or butanesultone in organic solvents. The compounds are distinguished in particular by high interfacial activity at the interface of water with non-miscible organic liquids and by compatibility with other surfactants. They are suitable for use as aftertreatment agents (auxiliary dispersing agents) in dispersions of fluoropolymers and as components in fire-extinguishing agents.

  • Patent number: 4209456
Abstract: Fluorine-containing alkyl-sulfato-betaines of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sub.f is perfluoroalkyl with 3 to 16 C atoms, R.sup.1 is alkyl with 1 to 4 C atoms, R.sub.2 is alkyl with 1 to 4 C atoms, Q is --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 -- or ##STR2##m is numbers 0 or 1 and, if m is 0, p is an integer from 1 to 4 and, if m is 1, p is the number 1, are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula ##STR3## in which R.sub.f, Q, m and p are as defined above, with at least one known sulfating agent at -30 to +60.degree. C. in the presence of at least one solvent (a) which dissolves the abovementioned amine and does not react with the sulfating agent, dissolving the resulting product, after removing the solvent (a), in at least one polar solvent (b), neutralizing the solution with at least one known alkali and then reacting the neutral solution at 40 to 130.degree. C. and under a pressure of about 1 to about 6 bars with a compound of the formula R.sub.2 Z, in which Z is Cl, Br, I or --OSO.sub.2 OR.sup.2 and R.sup.

  • Patent number: 4173679
Abstract: Fiber conditioning agent containing a reaction product of polyphosphoric acid and an oxalkylate of C.sub.8-18 alkyl- or alkenylcarboxylic acids with 1 to 22 ethylene oxide units and having a content of free polyethylene glycol of less than 2% by weight, the reaction product being present in acidic form or in the form of its alkali metal salts. These fiber conditioning agents are applied by conventional methods. They show good antistatic properties, are stable to heat and show good lubricating and sliding properties.
