  • Patent number: 5525654
Abstract: Described are moisture-curing sealing and/or adhesive compositions based on alkoxysilane-terminated polyurethanes and containing diurethanes as plasticizers. The diurethanes are prepared either from diol mixtures and mono-functional isocyanates, reacting with substantially all the free hydroxyl groups, or from diisocyanates and mono-functional alcohols, reacting with substantially all the free isocyanate groups. Also described is a method of preparing the moisture-curing sealing and/or adhesive compositions and their use as joint sealants.

  • Patent number: 5478427
Abstract: New contact adhesives which are designed as multifunctional contact reactive adhesives and which may be used in a multistage curing process, for example for bonding wood, plastic moldings, metals and the like, are provided. One of the functional substituents of the adhesive composition is characterized by the presence of an olefinic double bond which is accessible to radical reaction initiation. The other functional substituent is an isocyanate group which reacts off, e.g. under the effect of moisture. These different reaction mechanisms enable the reactive contact adhesive to be cured in stages, e.g. by forming contact-sensitive adhesive layers on hard surfaces in a first stage, subsequently fitting the correspondingly coated surfaces together and firmly bonding them together in a final stage, e.g. under the effect of atmospheric moisture. Also provided is a process for the production of the new reactive contact adhesives.

  • Patent number: 4857623
Abstract: Alkoxysilane-terminated, moisture-hardening polyurethanes obtained by reaction of OH-terminated diols and/or triols with diisocyanates to form NCO-terminated polyurethanes having an NCO functionality of at least 2, and reaction of some of the NCO groups with aliphatic alcohols to form a polyurethane having an NCO functionality of at least 1 and less than 2, or by reaction of the OH-terminated linear diols or triols with a mixture of mono- and diisocyanates to form NCO-terminated polyurethanes having an NCO functionality of at least 1 and less than 2, followed by a reaction of substantially all the free NCO functions of the polyurethanes obtained with aminoalkyl, mercaptoalkyl or epoxyalkyl alkoxysilanes. The polyurethanes thus obtained are particularly suitable as a basis for moisture-hardening one-component sealing compounds and adhesives.
