  • Patent number: 5537756
Abstract: The invention is directed to a device for evacuating condensate from a rotary, steam-heated drying cylinder or the like, in particular the drying cylinder of a paper machine, having a plurality of grooves provided at the inner wall in the circumferential direction of the cylinder jacket, and a condensate evacuation pipe which may be associated with the grooves and which supplies the condensate produced to a collector and then to a condensate discharge pipe. The condensate evacuation pipes are fixed in the area of the associated grooves at a predetermined distance from the bottom of the grooves. A flexible connection element functionally connects the condensate evacuation pipes to the collector.

  • Patent number: 5477624
Abstract: In a two-wire cylinder dryer, the wire guide rolls are so arranged that the web and wire proceed jointly from the first cylinder to the wire guide roll. An air carrier box is arranged in the shaft contained between two cylinders. The air carrier box has an air channel connecting the area of the leaving point A with an opposite pressure zone. Hot air flows into the air channel through a driver nozzle, so that in the area of the leaving point there is a vacuum zone created which is outwardly bounded by a sealing strip. The pressure zone is bounded by further sealing strips.

  • Patent number: 4986009
Abstract: Process and device for drying a material web which together with a backing belt alternately runs across heatable drying cylinders which are contacted by the material web and across guide rolls contacted by the backing belt. At the travel section of the material web from one drying cylinder to the next, drying air is fed to the material web in relatively narrow blow zones. Located between the narrow blow zones are relatively wide steam release spaces from which the water vapor-laden drying air is removed.

  • Patent number: 4881327
Abstract: A dryer section in which a paper web to be dried meanders successively over several drying cylinders, which are arranged in two rows one above the other. To the top row of cylinders is allotted a top supporting belt and to the bottom row of cylinders a bottom supporting belt. Between each two drying cylinders each of the supporting belts runs over a carrier roll. At the open paper draws are provided web stabilizers of which each exhibits several nozzle elements with one air blow slot each and a web-guiding surface interacting with it. The direction of flow of the blow air is at all nozzle elements the same as the direction of travel of the paper web. Each web stabilizer is designed as an exhaust-air box surrounding the nozzle elements, to which an exhaust-air pipe is connected.
