    Abstract: A system for integration of commercial-off-the-shelf software applications and databases is provided. The system includes a commercial-off-the-shelf software application operable with a first data store and providing an output compatible with the first data store. The system includes a translator, a second data store, a service broker and a data access layer. The translator is operable to receive the commercial-off-the-shelf software application output and to translate the output to a format compatible with a second or other data store, such as newer version data stores or different vendor data stores. The second data store is operable to receive and store the translated output. The service broker is operable to maintain a record of transactions output from the commercial-off-the-shelf software application and to maintain a record of transactions stored in the second data store. The storage broker is further operable to roll-back failed transactions in the second data store.

The method includes providing an electronic marketplace system for selling web services, and offering, by a plurality of providers, web services via the electronic marketplace system based on a quality of service for the web service. The method also provides for obtaining, by one or more customers via the electronic marketplace system, the web services having the quality of service for the web service from one or more of the providers.

    Abstract: The invention comprises methods and apparatus for implementing a name service. In the present invention, a name service compliant with the CORBA CosNaming specification may be implemented which incorporates load balancing. This invention involves a name service having a data store and a data store interface which are not necessarily configured for the persistent storage of information. This invention further involves creating a load balancing index within the data store interface and using name-overloading to create names containing a load balancing name identifier which may be used for referencing in the load balancing index. The data store interface of this embodiment could also include a specific bind operation, a specific resolve operation, or both.

An additional embodiment may be implemented by creating a data store interface for interacting with the directory service, wherein such interaction comprises the use of protocol compliant with LDAP version 2.
