  • Publication number: 20110128474
Abstract: A reflective liquid crystal panel including a first substrate, a first alignment layer, a second substrate, a second alignment layer, a liquid crystal layer and a reflection layer is provided. The first alignment layer disposed on the first substrate has a first alignment direction. The second substrate is opposite to first substrate. The second alignment disposed on the second substrate has a second alignment direction, wherein an included angle between the first alignment direction and the second alignment direction is substantially between 68 degrees and 85 degrees. The liquid crystal layer is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The first alignment layer and the second alignment layer align the liquid crystal so that the liquid crystal layer has a twisted angle, wherein the twisted angle and the included angle are substantially the same. The reflection layer is disposed between the second alignment layer and the second substrate.

  • Patent number: 7730244
Abstract: Command translation of burst commands is described. A slave processor local bus (“PLB”) bridge, part of a processor block core embedded in a host IC, has a data size threshold to allow access to a crossbar switch device. A master device, coupled to the slave PLB bridge, has any of a plurality of command bus widths. A burst command is issued via a command bus, having a command bus width of the plurality, from the master device for the slave PLB bridge. The burst command is converted to a native bus width of the slave processor logic block if the command bus width is not equal to the native bus width. The burst command is translated if execution of the burst command will exceed the data size threshold and passed without the translating if the execution of the burst command will not exceed the data size threshold.

  • Patent number: 7715443
Abstract: The techniques described herein allow a more efficient transmuxing operation for transferring data from a synchronous domain (e.g., SONET) to a plesiochronous (e.g., PDH) domain as compared to the prior art, in which extraction of data streams, jitter filtering and stuff bit generation are processed separately. The techniques described herein include extraction of data from the plesiochronous data stream without complete extraction of the underlying native data stream. Filtering is performed based on synchronous timing, which results in a simpler filter design.

  • Publication number: 20100060635
Abstract: Presently disclosed is a process and system for assembly-based parametric modeling having a single design environment in which the parts, components, and assemblies thereof may be designed concurrently. In embodiments of the present invention, every assembly has a deterministic parametric history supporting both top-down and bottom-up assembly design methodologies. Top-down components may be built in place, reducing the user interaction required to define the attachment and movement characteristics of the assembly. Bottom-up components may be inserted into an assembly using a parametric Insert Component Feature. The process and system also provides the ability to parametrically define the shape of an assembly in multiple orientations that still regenerate deterministically.

  • Publication number: 20100010655
Abstract: A method and apparatus that allows the user of a computer aided design (CAD) system to connect three-dimensional parts to create a three-dimensional assembly using connections that completely define the attachment between the parts attached to each other by that connection. The user can simultaneously define the orientations of the parts and their behavior. “Behavior” includes whether parts are rigidly connected or allowed to move relative to one and other, and if allowed to move, the nature and limits on that movement. Within any movement allowed, the user may specify key discrete orientations known to be important to the function of the assembly, such as orientations that limit movement within the assembly. The connection method creates a smaller, more consistent representation of the underlying constraints of the assembly, improving the reliability, performance, and ease of use of a CAD system in which it is used.

  • Patent number: 7573257
Abstract: A magnetic screening system uses directional gradiometers with high resolution and accuracy to measure magnetic field signatures of target objects (e.g., gun, knife, cell phone, keys) in a volume of interest. The measured signatures can be compared to signatures of known objects stored in a local database. Various mathematical processes may be used to identify or classify target object signatures. The magnetic screening system can operate in multiple modes, such as a tracking mode, measurement mode, calibration mode, and self-test mode. Calibration may be performed in substantially continous manner to allow calibration parameters to be adjusted during system operation (e.g., tracking mode) to compensate for changes in conditions that may impact calibration parameters. Through use of unique processes and designs, the magnetic screening system can achieve a high rate of processing persons for target objects.

  • Publication number: 20080218469
Abstract: Methods and systems for displaying videos with high contrast using fast transient response of liquid crystal materials are disclosed. The system comprises a liquid crystal material treated with a chiral dopant, which is aligned between two substrates with conductive layer on each substrate. The system can be operated in an active or passive matrix mode display. The active matrix display can be a thin film transistor (TFT) or MOS transistor, whereas no transistors are used for the passive matrix mode display. A full color display, with high contrast, can be achieved by illuminating the transient liquid crystal material with a pulsed backlight.

The measured signatures can be compared to signatures of known objects stored in a local database. Various mathematical processes may be used to identify or classify target object signatures. Through use of unique processes and designs, the magnetic screening system can achieve a high rate of processing persons for target objects.

  • Publication number: 20080020368
Abstract: A tapered microchannel structure allows individual cells to be reacted with a continuum of concentrations or dosages of an analyte or drug from one sample. A dual sandbag structure that divides up a tapered micro channel into thirds permits performing two simultaneous tests on two different sets of cells isolated in the two sandbags by introducing a single analyte or drug into the region between the two sandbag structures.

  • Patent number: 6844877
Abstract: Automatically generating components of an object modeled in a three-dimensional modeling space by a computer aided design system includes positioning a plane in the three-dimensional modeling space to (i) logically subdivide the modeling space into a first division that includes an existing component and a second division in which a reproduction of the existing component is to be located and (ii) to define a reference geometry for creation of the reproduction of the existing component. A number of geometrically transformed components are computed by applying a series of different transformations to the existing component such that each transformed component has a different orientation. A reproduction of the existing component is constructed such that the existing component and the reproduction are symmetrical to each other with respect to the plane.
