  • Patent number: 4305281
Abstract: A turbine meter is disclosed in which a sensing rotor downstream from the metering rotor senses changes in the exit angle of the fluid leaving the metering rotor, the output from the sensing rotor being combined with the output from the metering rotor to produce a corrected output indicative of the flow of fluid through the meter. The output from the sensing rotor and the output from the metering rotor may be compared to provide an indication of deviation from performance at calibration.

  • Patent number: 4286471
Abstract: A turbine meter is disclosed in which a sensing rotor downstream from the metering rotor senses changes in the exit angle of the fluid leaving the metering rotor, the output from the sensing rotor being combined with the output from the metering rotor to produce a corrected output indicative of the flow of fluid through the meter. The output from the sensing rotor is utilized through a closed loop feed back system to modify the operation of the metering rotor in accordance with variations in the exit angle of the fluid leaving the metering rotor.

  • Patent number: 4091653
Abstract: This invention discloses apparatus and method for checking the calibration of a fluid turbine meter without interrupting the line service. A flow directions sensing means is inserted at the downstream side of the flowmeter so that the angle of flow the discharge from the meter may be checked from time to time without removing the meter from its flow line. Any change in this angle indicates a possible change in response of the meter.

  • Patent number: 3978354
Abstract: Electrical machines comprising a rotatable armature and permanent magnets surrounding and separated from the armature by air gaps having a length to width ratio not greater than 60:1 and a minimum width of 0.040 inch irrespective of the length to width ratio, thereby allowing cooling air to be circulated through the air gaps as well as through the annular gaps between the magnets. Such machines have a substantially higher steady state power output than permanent magnet machines of the same overall dimensions designed in accord with conventional techniques because of materially improved armature cooling.
