  • Patent number: 8046437
Abstract: An improved system and method for supporting web system services is provided for storing data and context of client applications on the web. A client application may include a web system services interface for invoking web system services to support web applications to operate over the web using different devices that may store data and context of web applications as a web application document onto a web server. A web application document may be represented by components that may include view information, content, and context information. The application may also include a web system services user interface for providing a graphical user interface for a user to invoke web system services that may include a new document system service, a store document system service, and a restore document system service. A schema for context scope may be implemented for collecting context information relevant to the web application document.

  • Patent number: 8015065
Abstract: Methods and systems for associating an unbidded term with a bidded term and for pricing search terms. The method for associating an unbidded term with a bidded term comprises selecting a first set of search engine results for the unbidded term, selecting a second set of search engine results for the bidded second term, comparing the first and second sets, and associating the unbidded term with at least one bidded term based on the results of comparing. The method for assigning monetary values to search terms comprises receiving bids for a first term, deriving a similarity function between the first and second term and pricing the second term based upon the derived similarity function and the bid on the first term.

  • Patent number: 7680760
Abstract: A system and method for selecting a proxy keyword for an unknown document. An unknown document is received by a receiver. A plurality of candidate documents and corresponding keywords are determined for the unknown document. Using the keywords from the candidate documents, proxy keywords are determined for the unknown document based on a plurality of factors including a length of the keywords, a distance of the candidate documents from the unknown document, a similarity of the text between the unknown document and the respective candidate document, a rank of the keywords within each candidate document, and a frequency of the keyword within its respective candidate document.

  • Patent number: 7225182
Abstract: In a pay-for-placement search system, the system makes search term recommendations to advertisers managing their accounts in one or more of two ways. A first technique involves looking for good search terms directly on an advertiser's web site. A second technique involves comparing an advertiser to other, similar advertisers and recommending the search terms the other advertisers have chosen. The first technique is called spidering and the second technique is called collaborative filtering. In the preferred embodiment, the output of the spidering step is used as input to the collaborative filtering step. The final output of search terms from both steps is then interleaved in a natural way.
