  • Patent number: 6071424
Abstract: A method of using a hydrocyclone utilizing a Alternative Universal Long Free Vortex central inner vortex be. The invented hydrocyclone has a significantly reduced diameter and about two times the separation capacity of a conventional hydrocyclone of approximately the same height. The invented hydrocyclone can be operated under neutral pressure, positive pressure or negative pressure.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 4, 1998
Date of Patent: June 6, 2000
Inventors: Wlodzimierz J. Tuszko, Wojciech Tuszko
  • Patent number: 5453196
Abstract: The Induced Long Vortex Cyclone separation method and apparatus allows a three fold increase in residence time and therefore enhances the separation efficiency. The flow rate capacity is increased about 1.7 times for the same pressure drop and energy consumption compared to a conventional cyclone. The ILV cyclone could be used in addition for centrifugal separation of gases having a large difference between their molecular weights.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 9, 1993
Date of Patent: September 26, 1995
Inventors: Wlodzimierz J. Tuszko, Wojciech J. Tuszko
  • Patent number: 5273647
Abstract: The improved hydrocyclone separating method and apparatus provides negative pressure to feed the hydrocyclone and an artificial air core into hydrocyclone. Use of the negative feeding pressure allows reduction of the cyclone pressure drop and energy consumption. The water content in the underflow solid product is decreased. Use of the artificial air core allows to obtain a high separation efficiency. Use of this hydrocyclone allows extraction of solids from liquid before the feeding pump and therefore to prevent abrasion of it.

  • Patent number: 5269949
Abstract: The modified anti-suction air cyclone method and apparatus insulate the air core base as a most suction active part of the air core to prevent separated particles from being entrained from the cyclone walls into the inner vortex. Use of the air core bed can greatly increase separation efficiency and capacity of a given cyclone dust collector and decrease the investment and maintenance costs.
