Abstract: A method and apparatus for incentivizing a user to update a device is provided herein. During operation, an update manager will determine a past history of performance problems specific to the device that needs updating. The device manager will also determine problems fixed with the update. A personalized message that mentions the past history of performance problems that are fixed with the update will be provided to the user along with a request to update the device.

Abstract: Embodiments are described for a system and method for testing a hosted application through a test framework that uses the same operational test code for any one of a plurality of application interfaces. A method under embodiments defines a set of test operations comprising a test for the hosted application, each test operation interacting with the application through an interface of a plurality of interfaces; defines a set of test scenarios, with each test scenario including a number of generic test steps and test operations, and wherein each test scenario includes a function call to the test operation corresponding to the interface to be tested; and executes one or more of the test scenarios to implement a test on the interface to be tested for the hosted application.

Abstract: A method for synchronizing data in a database system is provided. The method embodiment includes receiving, by a field synchronizing service hosted by a node, an indication identifying a first field of a first record in a database, and receiving an indication identifying a second field of a second record in the database. The first record is of a first object type and the second record is of a second object type different from the first object type. The field synchronizing service can be configured to generate a synchronize relationship between the first field of the first record and the second field of the second record, and to store the synchronize relationship in a mapping table, which is used to synchronize data automatically across different object types.
