  • Patent number: 4538553
Abstract: Method of and apparatus for control of the heating capacity of a hydrodynamic brake which is associated with a liquid-cooled internal combustion engine, in the cooling medium circuit of which heat exchangers, a cooling medium circulating pump and the hydrodynamic brake acting as a heater are arranged. A regulation of the state of charge of the working chamber of the hydrodynamic brake occurs by a pressure regulator valve. In the case of a method and apparatus for controlling the heating capacity taking an available drive power into consideration, the pressure regulator valve which influences the heating capacity is controllable as a function of the load of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 4467747
Abstract: A fluid-friction clutch for a cooling fan of an internal combustion engine, the clutch being fitted on the water-pump shaft which drives the impeller of a water pump for the internal combustion engine and being controlled by an expansion-type thermostat element which is located in a longitudinal bore through the water-pump shaft. Cooling water of the internal combustion engine is applied directly to the expansion-type thermostat element, this water being continuously conveyed through the longitudinal bore in the water-pump shaft by utilizing the pressure-difference created in the cooling water by the impeller of the water pump. In order to cool both the working chamber of the fluid-friction clutch and the clutch-bearing, a cooling line is arranged inside the working chamber and connected to the cooling-water circulation inside the longitudinal bore through the water-pump shaft.

  • Patent number: 4457443
Abstract: A venting device for fuel tanks which includes equalizing chambers disposed immediately beneath a top wall and approximately centrally with respect to side walls of the fuel tank, with the equalizing chamber being vented to the atmosphere. Vent lines are disposed inside the fuel tank and are connected to the equalizing chamber. The vent lines terminate freely in an interior of a chamber vented to an interior of the fuel tank. The end of the vent lines terminate in vent openings located in an immediate vicinity of an end wall of the chamber which receives the vent line. A single opening is provided for venting each chamber, with the opening being disposed in a wall which is opposite to the chamber end wall receiving the vent line.

  • Patent number: 4261477
Abstract: A venting device for fuel tanks of vehicles, especially motor vehicles, with an equalizing chamber to be placed in the fuel tank close to and beneath an upper wall at approximately centrally relative to side walls of the fuel tank. The equalizing chamber is vented to the atmosphere through an equalizing line and is connected to vent lines on both sides running on an inside of the fuel tank at approximately the same height. The vent lines terminate freely in a vicinity of each side wall with a vent opening at one end. The vent lines preferably terminate at the side wall line opposite to the connection of the vent lines with the equalizing chamber. Each vent line, at the ends containing the vent opening, has a chamber within the tank with the chamber being vented to the interior of the fuel tank and with the vent openings of the respective vent lines terminating in the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4121682
Abstract: A radiator mounting of a vehicle in which the radiator rests by means of at least one mounting support fixed at the radiator on a corresponding mounting support fixed at the vehicle and in which at least one hold-down member secured at a fixed part of the vehicle and cooperating with a corresponding counter-support member at the radiator prevents the lifting of the mounting support fixed at the radiator from its mounting support fixed at the vehicle; the tilting of the radiator about a reference axis in one circumferential direction is thereby counteracted by at least one abutment fixed at the vehicle and cooperating with a counter-abutment fixed at the radiator while a connecting element opposes the tilting of the radiator in the other circumferential direction; a center section of the connecting element thereby additionally cooperates with the counter-support member to perform itself the hold-down function.
