  • Patent number: 6333734
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for the one-handed input of coordinates of multi-axis coordinate systems and alphanumeric characters and control commands, the device being operable with one hand. The forearm does not participate in the movements and rests on a support. The device comprises a plurality of elongated keys having sensor surfaces which, when depressed, detect and evaluate the position of a fingertip as a coordinate. The device comprises a housing which detects and evaluates the ulnar pivot movement of the hand as a horizontal coordinate and the pronation of the hand and a translation in the direction of the arm as control signals. The device combines the input functions of a mouse and a keyboard.

  • Patent number: 4952085
Abstract: The invention relates to a printer, preferably a thermal printer, equipped with a line-width printing head including a plurality of closely spaced printing elements. To permit high contrast gray tone gradation in a dot matrix image, the invention provides that the printing elements having odd and even ordinal numbers are combined into respective energization groups. The two groups can be energized alternatingly at the spacing of one matrix line. Thus, the distance between adjacent image dots is twice as large as the distance between the printing elements. The printing elements can be energized by different amounts of energy in four successive time periods during the advancement of the sheet of paper by one matrix line. By way of the selection of individual periods and their combination, the heating elements can be excited at thirteen different energy levels. In this way, image dots can be produced from the size of a barely visible dot to twice the area of a printing element.

  • Patent number: 4188650
Abstract: A flexible memory disk for a computer or the like and adapted to be carried in a diskette. The disk has been known in the past and is known now as a "floppy disk". Auxiliary disks are inserted on each side of the memory disk. A housing is provided which contains all disks. Both housing and auxiliary disks contain corresponding slots and holes. The auxiliary disks are rotatable between two positions. In one position the slots are in alignment. Access is then provided for a read/write to engage a memory disk surface. In another position, the memory disk surface is covered by the auxiliary disks at the location of certain slots.

  • Patent number: 4134139
Abstract: A digital magnetic recording method dependent only on the spacing between flux changes. The flux change spacing with the length "one" is allotted to binary bit "1", that the flux change spacing with the length "one and a half" is allotted to the binary sequence "01" and that the flux change spacing with the length "two" is allotted to the binary sequence"00".
