  • Publication number: 20090142997
Abstract: A device for the finish machining of circumferential surfaces of substantially rotationally symmetrical workpiece portions on workpieces, such as crankshafts and camshafts, which have a workpiece axis and several workpiece portions arranged in offset manner along the workpiece axis, has a plurality of finishing units, each of the finishing units having at least one finishing arm with a pressing device for pressing cutting media onto the circumferential surface of a workpiece portion and a finishing unit is associated with each workpiece portion to be machined in a machining phase. The finishing units are subdivided into a first group of first finishing units and a second group of second finishing units, axially directly adjacent finishing units being alternately associated with the first group and the second group and the first group of first finishing units is angularly displaced with respect to the workpiece axis relative to the second group of second finishing units.

  • Publication number: 20070039645
Abstract: A photovoltaic element, in particular, for application as solar cell for photovoltaic units, comprises a photon absorber. An electrically conductive working element is at least partly embedded in the photon absorber. The working element is separated from the photon absorber by means of a phase boundary. The working element further comprises a higher electron mobility than the photon absorber. It was surprisingly discovered that the efficacy of said photovoltaic element is greatly increased.

  • Patent number: 6012973
Abstract: When honing working cylinders for reciprocating piston-type machines or engines, e.g. internal combustion engines, unlike in conventional honing methods working takes place with a much higher axial speed than circumferential speed. This gives a mark pattern, which admittedly differs significantly from the axial direction, but runs more in the axial direction than in the circumferential direction. On the dominant mark pattern can be superimposed in a finishing operation a honing mark pattern, which has much finer honing marks and creates a plateau surface with diamond-shaped islands pointing in the working direction of the piston. A thus treated working cylinder, in the case of limited wear, leads to much lower oil consumption on the part of the engines.

  • Patent number: 5655955
Abstract: In place of conventional machining of cylinder paths or tracks of piston engines, a honing machining without a rotary component is performed at least as a final machining operation so that the remaining small honing tracks are directed longitudinally and consequently permit an improved running-in behavior in conjunction with the piston rings. A preferred honing tool this has honing segments taking up a large circumferential portion and which are preferably resiliently constructed in Such a way that they automatically adapt to the cylinder path. A coating of components in the vicinity or working chambers, such as internal combustion chambers, e.g. of piston rings, comprises a chemically inert, anti-adhesive metal, such as e.g. niobium or zirconium. It is applied in a target process in vacuo and has a small thickness of approximately 8 micrometers.

  • Patent number: 5269103
Abstract: A honing tool (1) simultaneously serving as a measuring mandrel has, apart from honing ledges (7), measuring and/or guide ledges (10), which are mounted in radially adjustable manner on the tool body (2) for increasing the measuring precision and/or for adjusting to different nominal dimensions of the hole. Thus, e.g. prior to the end of the machining of a hole, the measuring ledges (10) can be infed again and/or the desired measured value can be recalibrated by means of a calibration hole.

  • Patent number: 5177904
Abstract: A method for machining a workpiece bore in a single working stroke utilizes a honing tool with a preset honing surface fixed in a radial position corresponding to the desired end size of the bore during the work cycle and measures the finished project for calibration and repositioning of the work surface prior to the honing of a second bore during a second work cycle.

  • Patent number: 5155944
Abstract: A method and device for honing a workpiece surface to be machined to provide a finished size and surface configuration comprising a honing tool with adjustable honing elements, the elements having a cutting zone and a calibrating zone, and also comprising a guide element with a surface sized to the finished size of the workpiece surface such that on the cutting stroke of the tool the cutting zone performs the cut and the tool is guided by the movement of the calibrated zone through the guide element and the honed surface.

  • Patent number: 5088237
Abstract: A honing tool for machining a workpiece bore (40) in one working stroke with honing coatings (22) set in fixed manner to the desired size of the bore, has on a non-readjustable part of the tool body (12) and preferably in the vicinity of a guide zone (28), air measuring nozzles (33). During the tool return stroke, these nozzles are subject to an action through the bore and measure the final size of the latter following the working zone (24). Optionally a readjustment can be automatically initiated as a function of the result.
