  • Patent number: 5541383
Abstract: Arc welded joint between a carrier and a metal component with a continuous recess into which a stud-like weld-in part is introduced, wherein the weld-in part which consists of a shank and an enlarged head is pressed into the recess and into the pool of melt formed on the carrier so that the pool of melt adjacent to the wall of the recess embraces the outer rim of the head, the pool of melt directly connecting the component to the adjacent carrier. The rim of the head may be designed as a radial melting edge which is located completely within the recess of the component and has a substantially blade-like cross section.

  • Patent number: 5403135
Abstract: A blind rivet nut with a pulling mandrel, having a flanged rivet tube with an internal thread has the pulling mandrel in the form of a cap screw, the cap being used to engage a setting tool. The cap screw is a self-tapping screw.

  • Patent number: 5393164
Abstract: Arc welded joint between a carrier such as aluminium sheet as one electrode and as the other electrode a metal component with a continuous recess into which a stud-like weld-in part is introduced, wherein the weld-in part consists of a shank and a head which is enlarged in relation to the shank diameter via a step, penetrates into the recess in the component resting on the carrier and can be pressed into the pool of melt formed on the carrier so that the pool of melt adjacent to the wall of the recess embraces the outer rim of the head and the step, the pool of melt directly connecting the component, at least in the region of the edge of the wall of the recess facing the carrier, directly to the adjacent carrier.

  • Patent number: 5349152
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the electric welding of two weld parts by the flow of electric current through a welding point and the use of fluid such as an inert or protective gas to inhibit or prevent or eliminate oxidation at the welding point. The fluid is supplied through a continuous bore in one weld part and is directed toward the welding point, so that the fluid sweeps over the welding point radially from the bore. The fluid may be an inert gas such as argon or nitrogen, optionally mixed with carbon dioxide; alternatively the fluid may be aqueous liquid, the water being vaporized in the region of the welding point.

  • Patent number: 5259713
Abstract: A blind rivet nut with a pulling mandrel, having a flanged rivet tube with an internal thread has the pulling mandrel in the form of a cap screw, the cap being used to engage a setting tool. The cap screw is preferably a thread-cutting screw.

  • Patent number: 4836728
Abstract: A blind rivet assembly with a tubular rivet body having a flange at one end and a mandrel which projects from the rivet flange and can be pulled to set the rivet at its tail end. The mandrel has heads at both ends, one to set the rivet and the other to engage pulling means of the setting tool. The setting and pulling heads of the mandrel are rounded. The mandrel has a neck within the rivet at which it breaks when the rivet has been set. The invention enables a shorter mandrel to be used, and facilitates its economical manufacture without adversely influencing the characteristics of the breakneck. The invention also facilitates feeding of the assemblies automatically to rivet setting tools.

  • Patent number: 4108507
Abstract: A plastics strain relief bushing for a cable passing through a hole in a panel, comprising a hollow body for insertion in the hole and having a head to engage one side of the panel and retainer to engage the other side and prevent its withdrawal. A locking member rotatable in a non-cylindrical hole in the body has at least one resilient finger which is urged by the wall of the hole into gripping engagement with the cable when the member is rotated through part of a revolution, and is released on further rotation.
