  • Patent number: 5249494
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting machine for tuberiform vegetables or root crops, in which a rotor (2) is mounted rotatably in a rotation casing (1), the rotor carrying the material (4) and pressing it against the inner wall of the rotation casing. The casing is defined over a circumferential section thereof by a flap (7) mounted pivotally on the casing, with the flap when open defining a cutting gap (8) with a slice-cutting cutter (6) fixed on the casing. An adjusting device (20) is provided for pivoting the flap (7) and adjusting the thickness of the cut. A strip cutter (25), which is mounted on a driven cutting belt (10), is fitted with transversely lying cutters (12) which cut the slices (4a) into strips (4b) in a cutting zone. Downstream of the strip cutter is a dice cutter (26) which cuts the strips into dice and can comprise a circular cutter shaft or the like.

  • Patent number: 5168799
Abstract: An apparatus for the cutting out of vegetable heads, in particular cauliflower, fruits or parts thereof which have on their underside a central part (stipe), which is to be cut out from the surrounding part along a hemispherical or ogival face. The diameter of the cauliflower is established and the value determined is used for setting and controlling the cutter which is guided on a circular path, for adapting the diameter of the cutter circular path and the penetration depth of the cutter. In addition, the height of the cauliflower to be worked is also sensed, and the values for diameter and height are converted into electric signals and then processed to form setting signals. These setting signals are used for electromechanical control of the cutting operation in such a manner that the adjustment of the diameter of the cutter circular path is carried out independently of the adjustment of the cutter penetration depth.

  • Patent number: 5105695
Abstract: A slice-cutting machine, for cutting slices out of tuberous vegetables or root crops, has a rotor mounted rotatably in a rotation housing, which rotor carries along the material to be cut in the direction of rotation and at the same time presses it against the inner wall of the rotation housing. A flap is formed over a section of the circumference of the rotor. The flap is pivotably mounted at its front end and with respect to the direction of rotation of the rotor. In the opening position with its back end opposite a permanently arranged blade, the flap limits a cutting gap defining the thickness of the cut. A resilient device is provided which pivots the flap into a widening opening position, and a manually rotatable eccentric, which acts upon the flap contrary to the effect of the resilient device, is provided to alter the cutting gap.
